Barrel maintence
How do ya'll clean your 50ae barrels? Does someone make a boresnake or something for them?
OK, nobody even cleans their barells.
I just use a .45 rifle brush, scrubbing it all over. It's not a tight fit, but that's fine, it just means I scrub it more to make sure I got the whole bore. You're not going to harm the bore; it's a brass brush. Using a .45 brush means it's less likely I'll miss a spot, unlike if I were to use say a .30cal or .35cal (9mm) brush instead.
I could also just buy a .50cal pistol brush, but I have plenty of .45cal brushes laying around, why spend money if I don't need to...
ETA - for patches, I just ram 2 or 3 stacked .45acp patches through instead of just one. I don't use a jag; I just push it through with the bare end of the cleaning rod. It's generally tight enough to get everything. Rinse, repeat until the bore is mirror clean.
The only annoying bit is where the chamber meets the rifling...normally I clean from breech to muzzle. Once the bore is clean I push a patch through from muzzle to breech so it should clear out the stuff caught at the end of the chamber, and use a Qtip to get around the chamber walls/the step where it meets the rifling, if it's not already clean from the patches.
