I got a kimber on a trade and sent it to wilson to have some different sights put on it. The sights it had on it were not stock and kinda funky looking. well WC called and said the sight cuts have been enlarged and they can't put sights on the slide. SO, now what??? i really don't want to loctite the sights it had back on, so does anyone know or have any ideas on who can put some sights on this slide?

With the exception of the prototypes, which were built by John Yanek, Kimber 1911 were always made in Yonkers. The first ones were made by Jericho Precision, then when Leslie bankrupted them, he took them over and renamed them Kimber.

What type of sights are on your slide?

You can call Jim Milks of Innovative Custom and he can weld up the existing sight cut and then re-cut a new sight cut either a novak or heinie or what ever you like and he can also install the sights for you. I have a Kimber Warrior and this is what I had done. He did an excellent job and his prices are good. He is located in PA.

Have you called Kimber ? As far as I know, the Clackamas labeled guns had a proprietary cut and only Kimber sights fit properly. My friend had sent his Kimber Custom back to them for an adjustable sight retro fit and at the time, Kimber did it for him for about 70 bucks. For the 70 bucks, they also refinished his slide. However, this was back in the mid 90's.

srt,
Jim is a real good guy and is very skilled and talented at what he does. Also his prices are not bad and his turn around is slightly better then other 'smith's, well at least when I was dealing with him. Keep us update on the final results.
