It arived CZ 75b Compact Duo Tone from the Custom Shop: Range report added below
So I have been looking at CZ's for a while now wanting a SP-01 but not "needing" one.
I have however been in need of a new CCW gun after selling off my G19 a while back... soooo. I got to looking.
Yesterday I decided to order a new pistol as a Vet's day present to my self and sent the check today for it!
Duo Tone 75b Compact
With the following work:
Sa only trigger
Tactical rear site
Tritium front site
SS Mag Break
I'll keep ya posted when it arrives!
The guys at the custom shop were great to deal with.
EDIT, she landed:
Initial impressions:
Dang what a nice pistol. Fit and finish is good. A couple of small imperfections in the frame.
Slide to frame meeting is phenomenal, better than many factory 1911's I've owned and as good as any Kimber or high end Springfield.
The trigger work is well done; not sure I'm a fan of the flat face trigger but I will try it out a while (I did not realise it was a flat face when ordering). The break is crisp, paper it came with said 2.7 oz. The reset is very crisp, however there is a lot more travel than I expected. Mine is a SA only gun, I expected less travel in all aspects of the trigger motion; pull, reset ect. That said it is very 2 stageish, with well defined or felt point of reference as you pull the trigger and it resets. I like it, just different than I expected.
Barrel ramp is mirror polished, as is the hammer face.
Over all the pistol is fine, I've never owned a CZ before and I'm an instant fan. Very natural in the hand with a natural point of aim better than just bought any hand gun I've played with.
One thing I would want different; there are not back strap for front serrations; it makes it very smooth we'll see if it's to smooth or not.
Service from the custom shop was top notch, from my original all to verify how the order process worked to the confirmation call I got from them on the completion. Nice job guys.
I shoot it Wednesday (I may stop tomorrow also) and I'll let you all know shooting impressions then.

Bump.
She's a beaut! I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the flat trigger, but I'd have to shoot it before I pass judgement. A couple bits of skateboard tape will add some grip to the front strap if you find you need it. I've never had any trouble with my CZs, but they are all fullsize.

I added some skate board grip tape to those areas as well as under the trigger gaurd. I also stippled my super slick hard plastic grips. Thing doesn't move now.

You could try a strip of that tape on the face of the trigger also if that helps you adapt to the trigger.
#2.7 trigger on a carry gun, let us know how that works out.
Looks like a fantastic 75B! I'm also not sure I'd want that trigger for carry, but as a shooter, I'd hang on to that one.

That was my thought as well. I'm sure for some it would be fine. I know for me personally that would be way too light.
Looks like a great pistol though.
Took her shooting last night.
End result, not good, firearm is not acceptable as a defense weapon or even as a reliable shooter.
Fired 70 rounds. In the first 10 rounds there was one failer to fire; loaded fine just no primer strike.
Strange, reloaded and fired fine.
Again at round mark 30 or so same thing, got to playing with the trigger and reset, found the culprit.
At this point I can make it malfunction on demand; it is not hard to do. When firing and resetting the trigger to fire again there is a false reset in the trigger, when I get to this false reset point and pull the trigger expecting the gun to fire, only the hammer falls. Looking at it my guess is this false reset is allowing the hammer to reset and fall with the trigger pull but NOT letting the firing pin safety to reset; hence the hammer falls and the firing pin does not move or strike the primer.

Good:
Gun is nice to shoot; I really like this little gun. I'm so impressed with the CZ as a whole. I love the SA with safety, low bore height, steel frame weight and over all fit and finish. Gun shoots very well, right at point of aim.
Bad: Aside from the trigger issues; this thing needs frond and back strap serrations. Without a tight dry grip it squirms around a lot. If my hands were wet from rain, blood, or sweat I can see this thing moving around like a fish. The idea of skate board tape on an $800.00 gun is repugnant but it will have to be done or I'll have to have someone competent checker the front and back strap. IMHO this should be a factory thing right off the bat.
Other bad and this is more an observation than a bad thing, there is no way to "fix" it. The low height of bore on a CZ is a good thing; however it does cause a problem when power racking the slide on reload or if you are tap rack bang a frailer to fire; like I had a time or two. There is very little slide to grab on to, add in the curved nature of the slide it is harder to grab than say a 1911 slide or the blocky shape of a Glock slide. I don't say this to beat the CZ up, just an observation; if you are not getting a handful of slide and rear right and racking like you mean it (as you should be) it could be easy to miss or not cycle the gun completely.
Overall:
I had an obvious trigger issue; it will go back to the factory to have this sorted out. Disappointed? Na not really shit happens; this is why we test new firearms before CCW carry or betting our lifes on one. I have my M&P on my hip and in my night stand for now.
I like this gun. I like and was impressed by the custom shop. I will own another CZ in the near future, a full-size SP01 most likely.
I have the same gun but all factory, including the da/sa trigger. I carry cocked & locked. The factory trigger has a little creep but is getting better with use. I did add a set of Hogue finger groove grips and they help tremendously.
I love the one I have. The dual tone finish looks great and it is 100% reliable. My only complaint is that it's heavy, but with a good holster it isn't bad.
Well just talked to CZ.
.........
Apparently this is normal and by design.
So I have to pay to ship the gun back, pay them to take out the firing pin block and pay to have the gun shipped back.
I guess I'll rack this one up to learning bought the CZ platform, lesson learned for future purchase. Don't buy a CZ with firing pin blocks.
Bonus is once the firing pin block is out the amount of travel needed for the trigger is greatly reduced.
Double tap.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. Removing the fiing pin block is not hard. You can grind down the lifter or buy a spacer from CZ custom. Trying looking at the all cz forum. They have lots of walk throughs on how to do it.
edit: oh lookie I got my NRA thing. Next get the clank clank I'm a tank like the rest of the cool kids. Yes I have a DD214
Here are spacers for $2.50.
spacers As for taking out the firing pin block and lever it really isn't very hard.
Hey OP,
I just snapped a shot of my Compact with the Hogue grips. You have to cut down the standard Hogue CZ75 grips to use them on the compact, but they really make a huge difference. I would seriously consider them. Even without slick hands I shoot it much better since adding these. I carry this gun most days, unless I need to go with something super light and small. The only thing I want to change is to add a set of night sights.

Great info Monkey, thanks!
Got the gun back today will shoot her tonight and report back.
Yep. Remove that firing pin block, put in a comp hammer, do a trigger job, pre and post travel adjustable trigger... and it's a wonderful gun to shoot (I have mine in SAO, rivals a 1911).
Got it back today.
This is what I was expecting! Fantastic!

The straight trigger is nice once you get the FPB out of the way. I have a 75sa and a sp-01 shadow set up very similar to your compact and I love the triggers. Mark
I have a CZ SP-01 Custom Shop (pre-Shadow) and 75B Compact. They are consistent shooters for me, and I prefer shooting them to the Glock, with POI at and evenly spread around POA. Very different gun than the Glock for sure and trigger reset does take getting used to. The reset and trigger pull with and without the FPB are VERY different. The CZ Compact does get squirrely upon recoil, while the SP-01 does not.
My SP-01 Custom Shop needed the extended FP and heavier MS to reliably pop all (reload) primers, and it's a bit more picky with OAL and w/ flat point bullets. No issues with the stock CZ Compact. Great guns IMO, but not a no-nonsense Glock (which I prefer for SD applications). The CZ SP-01 is my favorite range 9mm.
