Picked up IJ-70 Makarov
Saw this at the gun store and seemed like a good deal at $225.
Right side of the gun says "IJ-70 Makarov 9x18mm" on the slide and "Made in Russia" on the frame.
Left side says "BIG BEAR ARMS DALLAS, TX." and the serial number.
The finish 95%+ and the gun almost like new, came with one 8-rd magazine, and has the adjustable rear sight.
I don't know much about these guns, just seemed like a good deal and might make for a decent CCW piece...need to find more magazines though.
Anyone have any idea whether this was a good deal or not?

That is about the going price, and it does appear to be in great shape. They are great shooters, reliable and accurate.
That's a fair price for a really good pistol. Mine has served me well.
Thats good to hear...it looked nice and was an affordable price.
Hell yeah you did good. $225 was about right. I paid more than that for mine a couple years ago. I don't particularly like the grips but they're probably comfortable. I replaced mine with regular Soviet reddish-brown Soviet grips. I think I paid about $15 for them. It's actually a pretty good carry piece. I carry mine once in a while. They're pretty damn accurate for their size and are reliable as hell.
about right yep
great pistols, reliable, simple...robust.
i carry my maks from time to time. Primarily my IJ-70's, as i dont mind as much if it gets a scratch on it

I paid $170 or so 13 or so years ago so yes I think you got a good deal.

I own one identical too it...right down to the importer, and it is really a nice little gun. The Russian commercial Maks are supposidly not quite as well made as some of the various military grade Maks, however I've owned a couple of the IJ-70 pistols and they are excellent pistols.

I think you'll like the rubber grips. I thought they were a big improvement over the stock grips. Since these guns are blow-back operated the recoil is sharp and the grips really increased comfort.
If yours is like mine, you'll be stunned by the accuracy. Honestly, it's the most accurate center fire auto I own. [I own the usual suspects-glock, sig, etc.]
Good price.
Mine was NIB for $219 OTD,yet it's in 380acp,last summer.

I'm pretty confident they all came off the same assembly line and ultimately they just added a step to add the rear sight...
Wow! I used to work for Berge even before he started importing the maks.
Super super guns. The DEA thought so too!
Great, now I've got to go get a couple!

I bought one new in November of 1998, and the price then was $190. I have a Dragunov SVD (KBI import) that was made at IzhMash in 1994, and this Makarov was also made there in the same year. So when I saw that this one had the signed/dated inspection paperwork like the SVD did , I had to get it as a companion piece. Both guns are still unfired and in the box. I haven't even opened whatever is in that rolled up brown paper.

I got mine 15 years ago for $150 ish. So yes. I think you got a good deal. It's not like they are importing any more.
I just bought one yesterday for $185 out the door for a brand new pistol with matching new russian leather holster, lanyard, spare mag and multifunction tool. He had 2 more just like it but they were $225 plus tax.
Got one about two months ago with an extra mag and a box of 9X18 for 200.00. I would buy them all day for that price if I could.
Although a bit heavy (my opinion) it is a great ccw pistol. It can be difficult to find IWB holsters for it though.
You did good.
