Scratched frame Sig Sauer?
I just purchased a Sig 1911-22lr and put fifty rounds through it. After I was done shooting I noticed a scratch on the lower left side part of the slide where it moves under the frame of the gun. Its not to deep yet, mostly just in the finish. Is this common with this firearm or something I should be worried about? Thanks All!
These GSG (and the Sig 1911-22) guns are known to wear through the 'finish' on the slide just in front of the dust cover on the frame. My gun has the same wear. I haven't examined the reason why. and I guess GSG hasn't either or it would cease to be an issue. Probably the frame is wearing slightly on the slide. You could probably file down the inside of the dust cover in the frame and prevent it. This is not a major problem, just unsightly. I suggest that you shoot the heck out of your Sig and enjoy it. Some of these GSG's have over 18,000 rounds through them and are still going strong.
