Mine never did either, although I read about some problems people were having and when I first bought it I kept the slide locked back. I figured this would help weaken the spring a bit.

For what its worth, keeping a spring compressed does not weaken it. Springs fatigue from compression / decompression cycles.

And for the record, my FNP .45 and FNP .45 Tactical have never tossed brass in my face nor have they had any type of malfunctions regardless of ammo type or magazine.

It was bad enough to scratch my glasses which are polycarbonate and I had just paid 500 for them so wasn't happy.

I agree, I should mention I also probably dry-fired and racked the slide over 500 times.

My FNP 45 (brand new) throws the brass right in my face, so I can sympathize with the scratched glasses.
Hopefully it will eventually stop.
My 45 Tactical never had this problem.

Mine finally quit. I have put 500 rounds through it now.Everyonce in awhile one will come close but nothing like when I first got it and it threw them hard enough to scratch polycarbonate glasses.

Hopefully it will continue to improve. If its not better would send it back. It was starting to cause me to get paranoid shooting it at first. I even went so far as to buy some construction eye protection which are not really clear.

My USG never did this, but from what I've read where this happens to people, it quits after the break in period ~200-500 rounds.

My FNP .45 hasn't, either. In fact, if I was to set a bucket two feet to my right, at
about 4 o' clock, I could catch 90% of my brass.

Can't beat that at all.
