SS195 "lead-free" ammo shelf-life...

I usually poo-poo folks who are worried abt shelf life and throwing stuff away at the expiry date.

I don't know what to believe about 5.7x28 SS195 lead free primers.

Does anyone have any recent info because I'm guessing the stuff has been out around 10 years now and I've heard it decomposes around that time.

Now OTOH, think of the liability for a mfgr if they market rounds that might hang in the barrel and another round is fired. And no expiration date on the box...

Lead free primers in general are inferior is design and function compared to lead and mercury based primers. Here is a great review of modern lead free primers. Not only do they not last as long and start breaking down after 5 years, but they don't function as consistently and affect accuracy.

I own a FiveSeven and don't buy the SS195 ever. I only buy SS192 and SS197.

If you get 195, shoot it up and replace with new stock. Get it?

Ran a bunch of tests with a chronograph this past week w/ 4 5-7's..

The LF stuff is still hot, consistant in velocity, reliable, and similar to the SS192. Abt 5 YO.

The BLUE BOX SS195 is not as fast as the white box SS195. I don't have my notes here but IIRC, it's abt 100 F/S or so faster than SS197.

Got the 5-7 that was jamming/FTE/FThold slide locked open on last rd, working a lot better.

Using up the LF is likely gonna take a while. A LONG while...

Get it?

But I'll try...

Looking around for SS192 I haven't been able to find it. Luckily bought a bunch a couple yrs ago and forgot I had it til recently. Thought it was 195.

Where do you find 192? Price per case?
