Is there anyway to use a 10/22 barrel on a 77/22?

I know, with a spacer, that a 77/22 barrel can be used on a 10/22 or 96/22........but what about the other way? Would I have to machine out the opening on the receiver i guess so the barrel fits in there farther?

Why would you machine out the receiver, when you could machine the shoulder on the barrel, and cut a second extractor slot?

Hop over to RimFireCentral and ask this question. I seem to recall it being discussed at one point.

Thx. Looks like its a go with minimal mods. I have a spare integral suppressed 10/22 barrel, and already too many 10/22's.

I put a Tactical Solutions 10/22 barrel on my 77/22. Like previous post, have a gunsmith machine the shoulder back to fit reciever and cut a second extractor groove in barrel. Super quiet with subsonics and my Spectre.
