I just picked up a Inland Arms M1 carbine at a local pawn shop. The stock seems like it has been refinished and is light with dark streaks througout. My first question is how can I tell if it is an original stock? Two, how can I tell if it has been refinished? and Three, if I stain it darker will it ruin the value of the gun? Thanks in advance.

If you want to refinish the stock to a USGI look, I would follow the CMP's advice.
