NFA Form 1 error correction
I just got my form 1 sent back, which was pretty upsetting because I'm about 3 weeks away from when I'm suppose to be getting it back.
I abbreviated "Revocable Living Trust" to RLT and Texas to TX on section 4H.
I made 2 new copies and fixed the errors.
I have a silly question,
should the date on the new corrected forms be the current date or the original date I sent the forms?
Thank You for your help!
Edit: Also how long will this delay me? I plan to send out the new forms tomorrow early morning with a 1 or 2 day shipping option.
the new date doesn't matter, someone had one done that made it look like his form was approved in 3 days or something. It doesn't set you back in time, unless you don't get it back in the 30 day window.
next time, read the faqs or any of the dozens of threads about how to file a form 1 and you won't have this problem.
also, you are the manufacturer, for the first time you file a .20 and can't figure out what to put for the manufacturer.
This is box 4h. Why does it matter if you abbreviate the state? Most people say you can leave box 4h blank if you want to. Can you double check that it is 4h that caused the hold up?
4h. Additional Description (Include all numbers and other identifying data which will appear on the firearm)
For some reason, on the letter which was sent along with my forms back to me stated I needed to spell out everything and not abbreviate at all.
"4H - No abbreviations - Entire name of Trust, City and State."
I'm pretty sure you can abbreviate the state but to be safe I wrote out Texas.
Anyone have a clue on how long this will delay me?
According to others on NFATRACKER.COM I should be getting it back by now. But of course mines is delayed due to the error.
Well, did you abbreviate your state on the lower?
I ask because I recently got two approved stamps back just last Friday. On my lower, I abbreviated my state. On the form 1, I spelled it out completely. Hopefully I didn't screw myself...
ETA - In the past I have seen the delay take a couple of days to a couple of weeks. Not too bad in the grand scheme of things.

I just got my first form 1 back last week. I did mine as an individual rather than a trust, so I put:
My full name
My City, NC
in box 4H. It was approved without any problem there, and that is also exactly what I have engraved on my lower.
I have also heard that one doesn't have to include anything in 4H, but I did, and it didn't cause me any problems, at least this time.
