Is there a company out there that makes non-nfa mp5 type rifles in 9mm? I've seen the GSG .22, I like em but I want a 9mm or .40s&w. Any info would be awesome, and yes I've tried google and couldn't find anything besides the GSG and NFA items.

$1200 for a blowback crap-copy? The HK clone market is out of control.

I was thinking the same thing, looks like junk.

Stay far away from any non delayed roller lock gun. If you are foolish enough to buy one let alone pay $1300 you will get what you deserve. You want a good blow back gun for half the price get a Vector UZI.

There are MP5 clones but they are not cheap. If you are looking for something in 9mm be ready to open your wallet. The cheapest option will be the HK MP5 in 22LR you can get them for around $450.

Vector Arms made a replica (SP89) MP5 in a few different variations. I believe Atlantic Firearms have a few left in stock, but I would call first to make sure. They supposedly accept the auto packs if you throw down the proper NFA paper trail. You might want to include "SP89" instead of MP5.

As far as I know, none of the clones feature the tungsten carrier, which aids in bolt-bounce. Before taking a plunge with a high priced clone, you might be well to check your local ranges, or even MFA collectors to see if you can get some range time with one. I have given thought to the Vector for an SBR build, but it has little appeal to me as only a pistol. I prefer the A3 style collapsible stock, with a pistol-grip on the front as well (only with filed NFA of course). I really do not care for the side-folder style stocks, but to each their own.

Here is the link to Atlantic Firearms HK Page.

The Vector arms is around the $2300 mark, but I do believe they are no longer made. Over 2 grand for a 9mm semi, is not everyone's cup of tea, but this is one of those cases where you pay to play. Good Luck OP, hope this helps.

Only the rifle calibers have tungsten inserts, it is not necessary in the pistol calibers and the majority of clones use surplus carriers in the rifle calibers. The UMP which is direct blowback does have the inserts. You are correct, they are expensive and not everyone can spend that kind of $$$.

Stay away from the cheap US made clones like Special Weapons/Coharie Arms and Velocity Firearms. The Velocity Firearms VR9 isn't even really an MP5, internally it's completely different. The Special Weapons/Coharie Arms builds are notorious for requiring all kinds of tweaks or even parts replaced right out of the box to run right. Try to find an MKE AT-94P and convert it, right now that's the least expensive way to get into a quality MP5 clone. Another option is to have one built by a quality custom builder like IGF or Parabellum Combat Systems, these are not cheap but the fit and finish will be top notch and most importantly it'll work.

Here's my factory MKE carbine, my understanding is that there are only approximately 1000 of these in the country:

hkparts.net has the ati94p in stock for $1500, that's the cheapest way to a mp5 clone; buy a hanguard and you're done. They also sell a package with 922r parts to convert to a rifle for ~$2000 total; if it wasn't for 922r then the parts for a rifle would be ~$100 (POF stock and US handguard).

I have a Coharie and it runs great. No problems whatsoever after 1k rounds.
