6 to 8 months.

I mailed mine Oct 4th. Got it back 2 weeks ago. I think they are going to continue stacking up, though.

Yes, this is beyond ridiculous.

As more and more people apply for or purchase through their dealers NFA items, the wait will get longer.
Jeeze BATFE, hire some people already...put those $$$$ millions we're paying for stamps to better use.

Unless they call you to say they've lost the check and are not returning your calls now...jeeze, could this get any better?

Hell we are VOLUNTARILY paying a $200 tax to the federal government per item. If the wait was around a month I guarantee more people would buy class 3 items and gun owners would single handedly resurect this country. Instead they take for f*cking ever to deter people for owning class 3.

I just sent off AR SBR and Osprey 45 paperwork. Hopefully this summer I will have them. Not holding my breath though.

I had a suppressor dealer tell me last week that every month another month is added to the wait. So if last month the wait was six months, next month it will be seven months, etc.

I have 2 suppressors in, about to send in 1 more and an SBR.

It is like waiting on your CHL to come in, but at least you can have your gun and holster in hand while you wait.

Last month I called in to check on one going on 3 months. Found out they put the serial number in the system wrong. Dealer called to get the serial on the forum 4 fixed and got back with me later that day. The examiner said it was another 3 months out or so before it would be approved.

Yea sit back and enjoy your wait.

What gets me is I just had a check done by DHS......fingerprints....photos....local inquiries....the whole thing.....and it took less than 2 weeks.

Why won't they put on a couple more federal employees for this?.....they can do a check so you can work on a project for them....and they pay you....but when you pay them it takes forever....

Waiting on mine also.........this sucks.

Because they don't want you to have NFA items..

They can't. The Department of Justice is currently under a hiring freeze, so they can't add new examiners. Several examiners have left or retired recently, so they're operating at about 75% of their normal capacity.

I'm sure if they had the budget, they would add several examiners. I can't imagine the people running the NFA branch enjoy having 9 people do the work of 12 all day long.

The check actually goes to Ga to be cashed and the money is sent back to Wv. That's what the lady that answered the phone at the Wv. office said anyway.

as i mentioned in another thread, i just got my stamps back yesterday, and noticed the forms were stamped on Saturday April 21st...

don't know if that is a sign they are working overtime trying to keep up or not... you could perceive the a few different ways..

So, they cashed my check a month or 2 ago, does that mean I'm pending?

This is my first stamp. Is there anywhere I can look to see an update or anything?
