 S&W M&P 15-22 as a .22 host?

I have paperwork in on a sparrow... and I already have a pistol host picked out, but want some advice from someone who has run a suppressor on a M&P 15-22.

I am looking at the model that has a threaded barrel and an A1 hider on it. Has anyone used this as a host?

If so, did you send in the barrel to have the threads checked, or just remove the hider, screw on the suppressor and go to the range?

Let me know. Thanks.

I also have a sparrow waiting on dealer to dealer transfer that I'm planning on using on 2 15-22's and savage mark II. From what I've read their good to go, Silencerco even has a video of them shooting a bunch of different suppressors on a 15-22.

The OEM threads appear to work just fine. Checking the alignment with a dowel rod before using a can is always a good idea.

The threads on the gun are about .600" long, which is .200" too long for most .22 cans. Gemtech and others make a simple threaded spacer to correct this issue. Not sure about the Sparrow.

I ran a few mags through a friends M&P with my Sparrow installed. Worked great, although as has been mentioned you will need a spacer.

I bought a three-pack of spacers from Titsworth's shop, but he seems to be out of stock. I could drop one of the spares in an envelope for you if you'd like.

You could also go with one of these.

That's a great host. A friend of mine has one. I also have a savage MK with a threaded barrel. I put his can on there and the bolt action makes it sound like a cat fart.

I use the factory threads on mine with no issues. Its nice and quiet with standard velocity ammo.

I use a Savage Mk II FV-SR for my rifle suppressor host. With subsonic .22 LR I'd say its slightly more quiet than a cat fart.

I can hear the hammer drop and the bullet hit the target, both sounds are louder than the gunshot.
