Suppressed Mosin Nagant
I have been searching but haven't been able to find anything...
Has anyone ever threaded a Mosin to fit a can on it?
Call it dumb, but I think it would be a cheap way to play with my .30 can and plink for cheap at the range.
Will ADCO even thread one of those if I sent it in?
Is the bbl even quality enough to risk threading? (concentric to bore)
Which "Mosin"? The 91/30 or the 1895?
Measure the outer diameter to check first but I doubt it for either models.
This one was done by some local FFL7-2's (James Firearm / Palmetto State Defense)
Video on FaceBook
They used a YHM Titanium Phantom .308 can.

'Mosin-Nagant' applies only to the 91/30. Mosin had nothing to do with the development of the revolver.

What is the minimum required diameter for threading it for 5/8 x 24?
Thanks for the info Paco, I'll have to check out the video when I get home... Can't bring up Youtube on on work computers
Tag.

There's also the concern about corrosive ammo inside a sealed can but rinsing it well with boiling water ought to work.
It should really tame an M44, but then don't people buy those FOR the fireball?

That is correct. The revolver is a Model 1895 Nagant Revolver.
The threading of a 91-30 or M44 has been done before to accommodate a suppressor.
YHM has noted that their 30cal Phantom cans will work on a MN if threaded properly.
Since they make several QD mounts in pitches other than 5/8-24 I'd surmise the best choice would be either 9/16-24 or 1/2-36. I'm drawing this from Colt using -36 for 762x39 uppers in the 90s. A Mosin rifle should have enough barrel thickness to be threaded in -36. I'm not sure about 9/16-24.
YHM has also mentioned that .312 bullets will pass through the Phantom suppressor. Just make sure those threads are perfect...
Is it doable? Sure.
Practical? Maybe.
A high chance of "cheap" fun? Yes.
Potentially destructive? Depends if you want to potentially destroy an $800-$1200 investment using a $100 gun. Find someone who is willing to thread the gun for you.
Rifle was threaded by Tornado Tech in Oregon.

A few questions tReznr––
1. How much did TT charge?
2. How long did it take?
3. Have you had baffle strikes at all?
4. Assuming it's 5/8-24?
5. Would you do it again?

1. I purchased the rifle used from my SOT already threaded.. I don't know what Tornado Tech charged him, but their prices are quite reasonable.
2. No clue how long this rifle was on the pile before it's turn for the lathe came up, but I have had several barrels threaded by them before and recall it taking 4 to 5 weeks. That was several years ago though, so your best bet is to call them and get their wait time firsthand. Whatever their wait time is, however, is well worth it. Mike at TT is a true artisan and only turns out top notch work.
3. Nope. TT threaded it. Enough said.
4. Yes, 5/8x24.
5. It's a fun gun to shoot. With a can on it it is much more enjoyable (but of course that's true of nearly every gun out there). Make sure whatever 7.62x54r ammo you're shooting is non-corrosive so you don't jack up your silencer.

I had my Mosin threaded to use with my 762 Ti Phantom.
Found a smith that would thread M14x1.0 left hand threads and bought the YHM QD flash hider with same threads.
Wont have can till probably November or December.
Not me but not bad for 16"

YHM said they will warranty it when I spoke to them. I wouldn't worry about the corrosive ammo. Just flush it with hot water and if you're concerned about water in the can, just put it in the oven.

I planned on shooting corrosive ammo through mine, I also had my PSL chopped and re-threaded to use suppressed as well as my mosin.
