any one out there make cannon bullet molds or know any one who has made these firstname.lastname@example.org
what are you thinking of forming? slower velocity lead projectiles or higher velocity steel/copper/etc projectiles? there was someone on g503 on the artillery section that had information on a gunsmith that i believe was turning large caliber cannon projectiles (75mm+) from steel and then adding the appropriate copper driving bands.
i've been trying to figure out what i do for the 30mm once i run out of surplus projectiles (~190 shots from now). i've toyed with: a) turning steel projectiles. adding the driving bands seems more complicated than i want to get into or b) turning the entire projectile out of an apropriate driving band material.
option B is much easier but the materials will be more expensive.
please keep sharing what you may find.
matt i have looked high an low for a mold builder so far no one wants to do any work i amm wanting a single cavity mold to pour a 30mm projectile i will use monotype alloy or harder thats almost as hard as copper drive band so sholud be able to shoot like the others but turning out projectiles out of other metal will cost a bunch i have about 6,000 lbs or mormore of mixed alloys here so i will use these up before turning any any one want to make me a mnold email@example.com
On that page they have a blank mold. You could purchase that and then have a local machine shop mill it out how you want it.
Each side is 4 5/16" X 3 1/8" X 1" so it is thick enough for your 30mm diameter but I don't know how long you want the projectiles.
looks like they are not any builders out there so i quess i will have to get a bigger lathes/ mill an do it my self
