Im not sure what FN is shipping to the services as far as the FH goes but a lot of the military versions Ive seen have the AAC Blackout on them. It's a bit pricey but looks good and works well.

The military model has the 18T Blackout Flash Hider. You should be able to order it direct from AAC.

It should. It will have a small bottle of Rocksett and I believe the torque setting will be in the 30ftlb range. It does not need to be timed so it won't have any of the spacer washers, crush washers, peel washers, etc.

Before the Blackout, AAC developed an inconel flash hider for the SCAR:

Because the low budget steel version was machined by them.

Would a Vortex G6A2 work fine? I don't have a need for a sound suppressor attachment.

I've always been partial to the Phantom version myself, Kalmar. Here is the 51T version with the AAC markings clearly visible. To the original poster, as mentioned by others previously, the 18T Blackout is what the military was getting on their MK16s.

What's the procedure for swapping flash suppressors on the SCAR 16? Any specific torque or use of washers? Is the thread pitch the same as the AR15 (1/2"-28)? AMU said something like not torquing beyond 5-10 ft-lb to prevent the chance of deforming the muzzle. Is the AAC 18T similar to the Vortex where you can just hand tighten it and let it tighten itself when shooting?

Also, will there be a difference in felt recoil/muzzle climb between the stock compensator and the AAC 18T?

No timing is necessary on the AAC brake.
Just put a few drops of the provided Rocksett on the threads and tighten it down.
I called AAC about the torque value and they said just tighten it on there. No exact value is necessary because it won't be coming off anytime soon with the Rocksett.
And I could be crazy but I noticed a little more muzzle rise with the AAC installed as compared to the stock PWS brake.
