I was just wondering what the class was shooting as an average. What should I be seeing as well?

You need to clarify 10 shot groups too, you will get a bunch of 3 and 5 shot groups cherry picked.

Mine averages about 1.5 MOA for 10 shot groups with German DAG and British and Port surplus all being about equal. I am sure the trigger has something to do with this as my trigger is heavy. I will try and shoot some more in the next week or so with Lake City and put all on the same target with British and German.
With the temps in TX still at 100 degrees it makes it difficult as the barrel gets hot and doesn't cool down well. It will take me a few hours to shoot the 10 shot groups and let it cool, and with a range cease fire every 30 minutes it takes a while- otherwise they will open up.

Second the 1.5 MOA with 5rnd DAG groups. I had two of the corroded cases blow out a pin sized hole just below the neck though....

I shot mine for the first time today. All are 10 round groups. The first target was @ 100M with a 10X SS scope, the second target was @ 100M with a 4X Z-51 NVS.

This is very similar to my groupings. Not sure what your trigger feels like but mine is almost like a two stage trigger. It's very interesting for a stock trigger.

The first stage was gritty and the second was pretty heavy. I didn't clean the trigger pack before shooting it. Afterwards I cleaned it very well & lubed it and worked it another couple hundred times, and it lost the gritty feeling and the pull got a little better.

Next time out I'll consentrate on the DAG and Black Hills, it seemed to like those best.

I've got a Tango Down bipod and a Leupold Mark 4 HAMR on the way, we'll see how it does with those.

I got it back to the range today and it shot a lot better. I have a few theories about that. When I installed the rail extension I removed the barrel and I don't think the barrel screws were anywhere near 62 in/lbs. Also the original brake made a big difference on recoil compared to what I had on it last time. The trigger is also a lot better now. So if your 17 isn't shooting well I would suggest you make sure your barrel screw tension is torqued to 62 in/lbs. It's just about the way I want it now, just waiting on that Leupold HAMR.

I definitely am not shooting groups like that.

I don't know if it is the trigger improving or what, but my groups are getting better. I shot yesterday at 100yds with Turkish surplus 147gr and had some groups I was not embarassed by. The first time out with my scar, I was seriously ready to return it. I do not expect sub MOA groups but was expecting more than I was getting.

FN told me their guys had gotten good results with American Eagle ammo. Tried that, and it was not significantly better but overall my groups have improved.

I shot mine with the HAMR on it today. It was pretty darn windy.
