This has been around here forever and I want to get rid of it but I have no idea what it is. It appears to say Solingen on one side of the blade near the base and what seems to be a name on the oposite side at the base of the blade. The scabard is green also

Solingen is a city in Germany famous for it's steel, and knife/sword blades. Maybe a German Army or Calvary sword from WWII?

If it were a Calvary sword, it would be a saber (curved). It looks to be a sword for an infantryman or artilleryman, NCO or officer.

WW1 may be more likely.

That's pretty much what I have narrowed it down to although I haven't been able to fine one exactly like it or even a ballpark on what kind of value it has

It is part Imperial Prussian Garde Schützen Sword and part Saxon Infantry Officer’s Lion Head . There are aspects of both in this saber...the blade shape and pattern as well as most of the handle is Prussian and the rest is the Saxon style. Hard to say with all the engravings....may be some presentation type not meant to be used. The handle grip appears to be stingray with wire wrap. The odd guard allows the user to grip it more like a fencing epee with the wrist bent down and the thumb on the top of the hand grip....especially with winter gloves. This is considered to be a ''Jawless" Lion head....there should also be a flat cord with it.

Be aware, if this is a REAL Weimar saber... they have values from 700 to 3,200 bucks depending upon condition and number made.
