I've been carrying a kershaw blur and boker ak47 while on duty for awhile now. The boker is my utility while the blur is my defense knife. I want to trade up to a larger knife. Around 4" blade if not longer (5" can reach almost every vital organ on a human). I'm wanting to stay around 60 bucks for this knife and I've been looking at the CRKT m16, the larger desert tan one with veff serrations and the cold steel Spartan. I know that they are 100% different knives and the belly on the Spartan is better for a wound track but the m16 is faster to deploy. Any insight would be awesome!

12 yrs OTJ and the most useful knife I ever carried was a multi-tool. For SD/Weapons Retention get a Ka-Bar TDI and get some training. The guys from TDI put on one hell of a LE Knife class.

Stay Safe,

I actually have some knife training (not TDI though). I carry a tdi as my ankle knife. I normally have 5 knives total on my person while I'm on duty and 2 while off

This is the one I carry now in addition to a cheap folder in my pocket.
Browning black label first priority.
I'm in negotiations with a company in Nepal to build 200 knives I have designed for uniform guys. Hoping to have it in production by miid summer.

Unfortunately my department policy says I have to conceal any fixed blade I carry. I have one on my ankle and one in my vest

We're not allow to carry any fixed blades. I have a Kershaw Blackout (because it was free) and a old beat up Spyderco Rescue that I use. My nice knives I don't carry at work.

Yeah I was less than pleased to find that out. That's why I have to carry my TDI as an ankle knife. I was chewed out for having it on my belt

I assume that you are looking for something with decent piercing ability then? The blade shape on the knives you listed won't really lend itself to that. They are also pretty big, bulky, heavy knives, especially compared to a Blur. I had the tan M21 and sold it off. I just found it too big for pocket carry. They are out of your price range, but the Spyderco Military and Spyderco Police both pack a pretty large blade into a fairly slim and reasonably light package. Another one to look at is the Spyderco Resilience. It can be had for less than $50 and packs a 4 1/2 inch blade.

I was always told that tanto style blades are best for penetration. I have found both online from amazon for less than 60. Ill look into the spidecos though. My dad has carried a delica for years and swears by it. Plus they're made in CO last I checked.
