Loose Barrel on a GSG5 SD6
Hey all, on my SD6 Rifle the inner barrel is loose in the barrel block/ retaining device. It will rotate alomost a full 1/4 turn or so. I know that cannot be good. What causes this and what is the fix? Thanks much. I am thinking that this may be the cause for the blown cartridge casings I posted about earlier. I am taking it out this weekend to see if CCI mini mags work out better then the Rem Golden Bullets.
Ran 2 mags worth of CCI Mini-Mags through the gun this weekend. 2-3 FTE's from each mag, but no blown out cartridges. So thats a plus. The barrel is still loose so and rotates so..... Not sure where I go from here. I am pretty sure thats going to be a headspace issue that causes the failures and blow outs, but maybe I am wrong. Let me know what you all think.
Please contact our customer service department at 800-290-0065 or email us at either email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. Please have your serial # handy. It may just need to be adjusted and have the screw tightened or possibly have a BBL replacement. Give our guys your info and they'll see what the best fix is.
Loose barrel is not good. The barrel is screwed into the breech block and secured with a long set screw through the bottom of the forearm.
You should contact ATI as suggested - they will sort it out.
If however you want to fix it yourself, you might be able to do so with green loctite 620. Disassemble the gun, take the barrel out of the block & clean/degrease both parts thoroughly. Reassemble with a carefully applied drop of loctite on the threads. Torque just sufficiently to index the extractor notch properly with the barrel cutout.
