Kushnapup Plans
I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to use a shotgun or rifle calliber Saiga with mine...
I need your thoughts.
I'm leaning toward 12ga or .308 (Right now the .308 is winning)
Considerations:
Saiga 12
Saiga 20
Saiga 410
Saiga 5.45X39
Saiga 7.62x39
Saiga 308
Saiga .223
What would / are you chosing for your conversion?
Is there another calliber you would choose?
Why?
My 410 won't fit :( I'm pissed !!!!!
How does it not fit?
OP, I couldn't decide either so I have the 12ga and the .308. When I have the funds I'll purchase another stock, but for now it only takes me about 5mins to switch them out of the stock.

I just ordered one for my 12ga.
they dont have any shotguns around here, so im looking for a 5.45
Got my stock last week... picked up an S12 today from my FFL
I would like the 5.45x39. Waiting to get some reviews from folks who actually use that platform before I make the leap.
Ok, so I did receive a stock yesterday, put it on my S12 with an Eotech. It feels great, changes the center of gravity from the heavy front to the near the rear. The only bad thing is that the 20 rounder is hard to reach around to get to the trigger. I had to put a riser for the sight, as using it straight on the rail means I had to squeeze my cheek to the stock. It is, however, very comfortable. I also added the SGM thick buttpad from my original stock. Overall, everything fit fairly well with the exception of a few small open areas between the mating halves, where they don't quite match up... but it is very hard to notice. Don't think I'll be able to make to the range this weekend, but most likely next weekend I will test it out. I'm certain it'll be fun as hell to shoot.
Here it is with the Surefire 5 rounder:
Here it is with the Promag 10 rounder:
And here it is with the 20 rounder:
The top cover of the .410 hits plastic inside the halves don't know if I have to cut/trim the plastic waiting to see what others do before I ruin the stock. My s12 was converted to a pistol grip don't know if I want to have it converted back to fit the bull pup . Also disappointed I have to permanently ruin my shotgun by cutting off the rear stock attachments when they just needed to make the stock that much longer !!!!
I still have one unconverted S-12 lying around. I was planning to send it to Tromix some day (like I did my very first one) but this looks like it will be the project for that one.
So 12 for me.

Actually, it isn't completely necessary to do that. What I did (and luckily so), I had the thicker recoil pad from SGM for my original stock, drilled & reamed the inside of it where the tangs would go, and screwed it right in. It didn't come out perfect, but I really didn't want to cut off the tangs either.
I'm not sure about the conversion though, mine a was stock grip. However, I did have a pistol grip that did fit without any conversion beforehand.
Why is cutting the tang that big of a hold up? You can fold the lower tang into the reciever and cutting the upper tang isn't that big of a deal. If you're going to put an AK style weapon in a Kushnapup, you're clearly not an uptight AK connoisseur so, in the event that you don't like the 'pup, what's stopping you from getting an Ace block and slapping on a folder or a pignose to use any stock out there you want? And if for some reason you decide you really really liked the OE setup, you can still put the factory stock back in. Fold the lower tang back out and there is still another screw hole on the top of the gun. Even with one screw missing, it still isn't going to budge. You can fill in the void on your stock with black epoxy to make it pretty if it bothers you. I don't see the big deal.
12 ga.
Gods of war type deal.
20 ga. No longer any need for the Kel-Tec KSG.
Custom loaded 20 ga buckshot
Gig 'em,
backbencher
Just got my Saiga 12 Tactical Recoil Pad by SGM Tactical USA
This thing looks like it will handle some serious recoil.
Should work either way... .308 or S12
I know... They are gunbroker pics, but I hosted them on my file server..... /shrug
How thick is that pad? Will it clear if you leave the tangs on?
About 1 1/4 inches.... I'm planning to cut the tangs off anyway. Whichever way I go, the gun will never leave the stock. However, here is the answer;

He used the same pad.... his post is up the page, with pics.
Hard decisions suck....
I'm sending my Saiga Bullpup plans to the waste bin... Not because of any worries or lack of faith in Kushnapup's stock, but because I have other uses for the money I was going to invest in it.
Good luck to all of you that are still doing builds. I'll be following the threads and drooling.
Just finished my build. Went together pretty easy. Did a quick Duracoat spray first in FDE. Still waiting on the back ordered Ultimak rail

While I am very, VERY interested in this, I fear the LOP would be too much for my 5'3' wife to shoulder. I try to make sure all our rifles/shotguns work for both of us.
What is the OAL with the 19" barrel?
What is the LOP to reach the trigger?
Thanks!
Primary Arms has the rails in stock.

This thread looks promising, TAG

I believe (from memory) the LOP is about 15.5", and the OAL is about 28". I am a small frame myself, but I think it is incredibly comfortable, mostly because it shifts the center of gravity from the front to the rear, most of the weight rests against your shoulder.
I do not think you will be disappointed.
What else do you have done to your pup? It looks fricken amazing.
