What is a Sig "SCM"
Came in the Shop the other day and there was a Sig Rifle on the shelf; all it said was "SCM" What is it?

It is a "Sportsmen" rifle.
16" crowned barrel, no muzzle threading.
Fixed rifle stock
10 round magazine.

Thanks, but is it or closer to what? ie; 551, 556, 522,... I'm new to Sig Rifles and don't have a good handle on what's what.
It's built off the 556. The 552 is a .22, the others (551, etc...) are what the 556 is bastardized off. There are very few 550s, 551s, etc... in America

Seems to be a nice clean rifle, and it's configured for NY (we have a State version of the old Federal AW Ban) comes with a low-end Surefire LED light and a Sig dot-reticle optic for $900. good-bad-indifferent?

551, I wish.
As has been said, it is built off of the 556.
I can do w/o the Sig Sight, but you can get the Surefire into a rather useful weapon light.
$900? Is it NIB?

no it's used.
not knowing one Sig from another I threw out the modle numbers that I read while trying to figure out exactly what it was.
the Sig sight is a small heads-up little windshield, not the tube type.
the SureFire looked like a 6P-LED; other than pushing the button turning it on, I didn't pay a lot of attention to it.
These do use AR magazines right?

Yes, they do.
I've had mine for about a year now, switched out the A2 for an ACE, its been a good rifle
SCM stands for "States Compliant Model"
That make a 522 in that configuration.
