I have a Sig 556 w/fixed hooded front sight & diopter rear sight.
Was thinking about running a 1-4x scope with it.
What scope and mount are you guys using?
I have the Trijicon Accupoint TR24G in a Larue LT-104 mount. I am running it with Aurora sights though and they sit a little lower than the factory diopter set.
That is sweet!
How does one go about acquiring Aurora sights?
Topgunsupply.com tends to be the best source for them. If they are out of stock just keep an eye on them. As soon as they become available, top gun will have them.
They also pop up from time to time on the EE here as well.
I run the Trijicon TR-24G on mine. I love it! I need to pick up a LaRue mount like C_Swimm to move the scope forward more. Then I too would like to pick up some of those sights.

This 556 Patrol was put together with help from both C_Swimm and Backpacker. It's a mash-up between both of theirs
The Magpul cheek riser and extended buttpad make the CTR stock a perfect fit for me.
I was running an IOR 1.1X4 on my 556 but now have an ACOG 4X with red chevron on it and now have to decide which I like better the IOR is much heavier but both have range finding reticles since I have not fired with the ACOG yet for zero I have not made up my mind. The IOR is in a medium ARMS mount for years and zeroed. I have been to a pop up range and tagged targets out to 600 yards easily with that set up. I also have a Burris XTR 1-4 X that has a wider FOV at 100 yards than the IOR and a lit dot in the reticle. I had that on an AR but sold the AR so the Burris XTR is for sale and it is mounted in Warne QRW high rings that did good on the AR.
I had a burris 1-4x in a PEPR mount and I found it to be FAR too heavy for the sig 556. I preferred a red dot/reflex optic on it.
