Why does the Sig 556R seem so cheap?
Just looking around the local fun stores it seems like the 556R runs a couple hundred bucks cheaper than the other 556 models. Does anyone know why this is? Is it to keep the price more competitive with comparable AKs? Or is this due to the early QC issues? Or is it because they're trying to build the market for it?
Thanks
I fired one this weekend st the range and went to my local GS to find one but they were out. It shoots great and handle swell. Its way more accurate than any AK I've ever shot and more comfortable to shoot. Mags fit well and were smothe to change. I want one.

Low value due to low demand, due to the early issues.
The 556 in 5.56 is at this point, a well ironed out rifle with very few issues, but the 556R had so many flaws early on, many people abandoned all hope.
This is pretty much what I thought. I know a couple guys who have one and like it... Probably on my list of too gets now.

Inspect the upper and lower for a good fit before you buy.
Also, steel AK mags tear up the aluminum shelf in the lower, Sigarms has been retrofitting them with a steel shelf, as posted by one member here. If yours gets torn up by hard use, they will fix it.
I'd give it another 6-12 months for Sig to work out the remaining kinks, but definitely keep your eye on this rifle.
The sig 556 in 5.56 started out a bit rough, but they got it worked out fast, I expect the same thing to happen with the 556R.
What's a good/fair retail price on these, NIB?
I saw one at a local shop this week, first one I had seen locally, and they were asking $1099.
Just curious.
I've seen a lot of them on GB for $999.99
They only one I've seen was at the local range/shop for $1600. I thought that sounded high but they almost had any 556 marked around the same price.
The 556R intrigues me. I want a 7.62x39 rifle but I hesitate to own an AK for the ergonomics, sloppy accuracy and the terrorist looking gun factor.

That price is insanity.
My 556 SWAT was MSRP $1800 I got it NIB for $1050.
I hope the prices stay low. I'm very interested in one, though it would be next spring before I can afford one.
