I'm getting into weapons again. Did time in the Marines, nothing like special ops, but still enjoy shooting. Recently got my first AR15 after wanting one for many years.
I'd really like a dedicated .22 and I'm starting to research around. While I'd love to have a look-a-like AR, it seems like the Sig is a better choice for reliability and consistency. I know I can pick one up locally off the used rack for a pretty good price if I shop around.
One of my biggest motivations for getting one, besides cheap ammo for plinking, is to maybe get my wife into shooting. She things my AR is too heavy, and I know it will be to powerful for her. She is a small woman, 5' 2" 120 pounds. She's a house wife by choice and not an athlete. So size and weight could be a factor for her. Of course if she doesn't take to the hobby, I'll be left with a gun that I need to like and want to shoot as well.
What do you think?

I have a 522 and the one thing that I don't like about it is it doesn't come with sights, and I ended up putting a Primary Arms Micro dot on mine. If your wife thinks that your AR is to heavy, you might want to look at the S&W M&P-22 because they are pretty light. I have one of those also and it's is even more reliable that my Sig, and it comes with sights. I put over 3000 rounds through my S&W before I cleaned it and it was still going strong and that is with a mixture of ammo including Remington Golden ammo that makes my Sig choke.
Thats odd because everywhere else I read and videos I watch say the SIG 522 will run any ammo with out misfires or jams. They say its the most reliable Tactical .22 they've used.

+1 for reliability. I have over 3K rounds through my 522 and it has run without fail with nearly anything I feed it although for consistency, I stick with CCI Mini Mags and subsonics. My buddy has an S&W M&P-22 and says it's very ammo specific or it won't cycle correctly. Regarding the no sights topic, if your wife is like mine, she will have far more fun with the rifle scoped as she can see what she is hitting. And, since I have the rifle suppressed and she can shoot without hearing protection, she loves the loves rifle. Hope this helps, best of luck!
