Has anyone figured out a good way to rig a light mount with a set of 551 handguards? I really like the feel of the 551's, but I am planning on taking a course that requires a light, so I am stuck with a dilemma.

Disclaimer: I do not have these, and have not used them. I found them online and it appears they will suit your application.

Some 551 handguards have holes pre drilled in them to attach rail segments like those posted above. If they don't have the holes already, you could drill them yourself.

The next option is a set of quadral handguards.

Another option is a set of the surefire handguards with the light built in. I don't think they make these anymore, but you might get lucky and find a set on line somewhere. It's the M520 series I believe. This would be my top choice if one could be found.

You could try some kind of off set mount on the receiver top rail(if equiped) but this would be cumbersome and not one of my top choices.

The last option would be a barrel clamp type setup. This would be at the bottom of my list, and only done if absolutely necessary and all other options exhausted.

I ended up going with a TLR-1 and a section of MI rail that is designed to be added to AR handguards. I will toss up some photos when I get it mounted up.
