Will SIG be producing a 552-A1?
Last year in Iraq I had the opportunity to shoot a SIG 552. It immediately moved to the top of my dream list. I knew that it was incredibly unlikely that I would ever own a semiauto version, but lo and behold, SIG is now producing the 551-A1 which has many of the features I was looking for. Having spent a little time looking around, I see that original 552 kits are prohibitively expensive. Does anyone know if SIG will be producing or selling any factory SBR models of the 551-A1? Thanks.
I too feel in love with it when I fired a 550 an d552 that one of my dealer (Class III) has a few years ago. I bough a 551 A1 a few montsh ago and lovbe it. I know you can by an SBR from Sig but I think you have to LE to get one. It would be the new 556 Classis which comes with teh Swiss folder and looks like the real deal and in SBR. LE can even order the 550 and 552 formSIg. I'm thinking about becoming a town and have my own police department. Then I could order all kinds of goodies. Anyone know how for form a township of vilage?

In North Carolina you have to get approval from the legislature to incorporate as a town, city, village, etc. No idea how it works in Alabama. Of course in North Carolina it is entirely possible to form your own private police department (called company police). I worked part-time for a company police department for a while in addition to my full-time municipal job. I have no idea if private law enforcement entities have access to otherwise restricted NFA weapons or import restricted weapons. Likely not, but you never know.
My plan is just to SBR a 556 Patrol and not worry so much about it being exactly like the original.
The best way to get it done as close to the original would be to obtain a good Sig 552 parts kits and a Sig 556-P receiver or SBR and have the 552 clone built byt Turner Fabrications or MarColMar/AMA. I started to go this route but have since had to focus on other things so I will be selling my Sig 552 parts kit and SBR'd 556-P receiver. Good luck and have fun.
I like the idea but the parts kits are just so darn expensive.
BTW there is a new AR Mag out there saying thar to SBR the 5.56 less than 14.5" is a bad idea. They gavce a bunch of reasons why and graphs that said the the loss of velocity and blah blah made it uneffective. I think even with the reduced vel and power an SBR 5.56 beats a 9MM like the MP 5.

Depends on the ammo. Plenty of 10.3-11.5 barrels rocking the bad guys out there.
I cant wait till I'm in the marshals
The Marshals use Glock 22/23/27, 870's (14 inch), Rock River M4 clones, and MP5SF.
local dealer has a factory SBR new for $1200. Now that I see the A1 lowers are available, thinking about buying one and swapping out the lower.
I just bought one of the 551-A1 lowers to go with my 556 upper, but sometime in the future I may go the SBR route with a 556 pistol upper. It won't be perfect but as close to a clone of a 552 you will find here without paying an arm and a leg. The parts kits from cogunsales are just so expensive, unless you're an avid collector with some deep pockets.
