I called about a part for one of my 556's and was talking with the guy in customer service about New Hamp. gun laws. I thought northern state like NH was as bad as New Youk or DC. I live in Alabama where the state is about as pro gun as it gets. He told me that NH was a lot like Alabama with gun laws and about a guy who worked there that was from Alabama. here, getting a pistol permit is easy and takes little efort if you have no criminal record and getting Class III signed off on by my local PD takes just a few minutes. I'm happy to hear that not all states up north are like New York or DC.

Sigs customer Service today was outstanding!

Yes New Hampshire is the "live Free or Die" state, and they take it seriously.

Vermont has always had carry without a permit. Their law says it is illegal to go armed with the intent to commit a crime, sp as long as you are a law abiding citizen, you can carry a gun concealed or open with no permit required. As it should be under the second amendment. When Alaska passed a similar law it was referred to as "Vermont style carry", and then when Arizona passed the same law the term "Constitutional Carry" was coined.

The rest of the north Eastern US is pretty well fucked though. New York State has a concealed carry permits for a long time. My Dad got his NY carry permit back in the mid 70's and back then you could pay around $200 for it and get a lifetime permit. My dad was glad he did because now you can barely get a carry permit in NY at all and if you have the one that has to be renewed every few years, you have to go through the same crap every few years. Just because the last Sheriff was cool with it is no guarantee that the next one will be. And even if you do manage to get a NY state carry permit, it is not even recognized in NY City. NY state also has a permit just to own a handgun in your home or business. You need either one of these permits or a NY carry permit just to be able to buy a handgun in New York. You can't even have the clerk at a gun shop hand you a handgun in NY state unless you have one of these permits, and you can't buy a box of handgun ammo without one of the permits either. I am glad I got the hell out of that state when I was 18.

NH rocks gun-wise. It's an anything goes type gun state.

All NFA is legal, no types of AWB in the least. CCW is $30 for 4 years, and is shall issue. The issuing organization MUST provide cause as to rejection within 2 weeks, so the system moves very quickly. There are some pretty good stores up here, transfers are pretty much $25 across the board.

Sig Sauer and Ruger are based here. We have the Sig Sauer Training Academy here as well.

It's a great state to live in across the board; beautiful, nice people, safe. We've got the white mountains for skiing and hiking, but are close enough to drive to a big city without having to live in the communist dicatorship down south. In addition to that we've got great gun laws, and they seem to be getting better over time.

I love this state

Mass sucks.

The only thing I don't like about New Hampshire is the cold. Other than that, it is great, but us folks from the south don't do so well up there unless its summer. I got a NH CCW entirely by mail back in the 90's before LEOSA. The entire process, including transit time through the mail, was about two weeks.

Mass sucks. NY swallows. NJ loves getting reach-arounds as much as giving them.

In the bazillion years I've traveled for business in the NE, I only met one civilian in Mass that owned a gun.

Good to know info... I think most of time, those northeastern states get lumped together and NH gets a bad rap by association. If I ever get an urge to head that direction for vacation, the people of NH may just get the benefit of one more extra tourist spending money in their state rather than in their neighbors.

littleton???

I'm over in the mt. Wash valley, tiny, sparcely populated town of madison.

NH gun laws are awsome. i used to reside in NJ, where it liteally was a police state when it came to firearms. Nh is relaxed but regulated in terms of ownership, and is a pro-CCw state. Resident carry permit is $20 for 4 years.
Vermont is no permit CCW. Basically, Vermont's laws is don't commit a crime with a gun, and you'll be ok.
