I saw a box of Buffalo Bore 44 +P+ ammo. I recall it was 340 grain coming out over 1400fps. Usually its listed that this ammo can only be shot in marlin levers, Ruger 44 revolvers and T/C firearms. Do you think the 77/44 bolt gun will be ok shooting this powerful load?

The Ruger Blackhawks and T/C guns are overbuilt, in terms of the metal around the chamber. That's why they say it's okay to shoot loads like these in them. I don't know how heavily built the 77/44 chamber is, but considering how light it is, I'm doubtful it's thick enough.

So, if it was my gun, I wouldn't do it.

Well, I shot an e-mail to Ruger on whether or not the 77/44 can handle these hot factory loads. I should know by the end of the week hopefully. It would be cool if it was ok as I suspect the energy on a 44 +P+ has got to be around a 30-30.

got the reply back from Ruger and they say ALL of their firearms can handle loads under SAAMi specs. Good to know

So, now you need to ask the ammunition manufacturer if that load is within SAAMI specs.

kol, Buffalo Bore says their loads are maximum SAAMI, so I guess its a go. I dont think I'd shoot too many of these high power BB as each shot is just over $1 each
