Cutting Down A Rifle Buffer For My 9mm

Has anyone else done this?

I have $1.25 in quarters in the buffer tube and was considering buying a special 9mm extended buffer and pocket my $1.25.
It dawned to me that rather than buy a special buffer I could just cut down an extra rifle buffer I have.

Anyone know of any problems that I might run into?
Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in Advance,
Bill

If I get this question correct, you are using a rifle tube on your 9mm?

If you have the heavy 9mm buffer, just get this

Or just make your own.

And you should be set.

Thanks for the info, this is all I really need.

As we know, the 9mm carbine has too much travel in the buffer tube.
On my Colt 9mm if I allow the bolt to slam home without a loaded mag the bolt catch will often break due to the very heavy bolt and the extra momentum from a buffer tube that is too long.
Hence the $1.25 in the buffer tube.

I was looking at a few different longer buffers made specifically for the 9mm to solve this problem.
That is where I had the idea of cutting down the longer rifle buffer to create a correct length 9mm buffer, but this looks like a simpler solution.

Again, thanks,
Bill
