Anyone know of a guide that will show me how to disassemble a SB Heavy 10 so that I can transport it in the back of my pickup in pieces?

there should be an exploded drawing on the net somewhere

that will give an idea of what basic assemblies can be dismantled...

dont be afraid to tear it apart

it gives rise to good opportunities to clean, inspect, and become familiar with the machine

ive moved two bridgeport size mills and my crappy atlas lathe like this multiple times

with a harbor freight engine crane, a bunch of cinch straps, and a 3/4t chevy

dont forget to make use of a spud bar, a number of small pallets, and take things slow!

From memory the basic large components of a Heavy 10 should be pretty easy to move by hand, with the left side base being the heaviest.

Head/tail stocks
Saddle Carriage
lead screw/gearbox/misc drive gears
bed
chip pan
right side leg
left side base/leg

I don't think any of these can't be removed with hand tools and then moved by two guys with a hand truck.

You might take a chisel, some picks, and small hammer. This is for removing paint on bolt heads ONLY.

I would try to keep from pulling the head from the bed. You will play hell aligning it when you reassemble it.
