I am a noob and just really getting into the AR world. I currently have two Delton midlengths and now want a presion rifle. I also do not have the gunsmithing skills or equipment to assemble the complete upper, so I will need to have it already assembled.

Here is what I want. (I also only want to cry once)

20" semi or bull barrel that is already threaded for a suppressor
223 wylde chamber
Free Floated barrel

I already have a Delton lower to build on. I am only looking for imput for the upper assembly.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Lots of options out there. You could go with a LaRue Stealth, RRA Upper, Bravo Company SPR upper, the options are pretty endless. Also assembling an upper is not that hard once you get an Armorers wrench, or you could have Adco or Rainier Arms assemble you an upper.

Things you will need to decide on:

1: Budget

2: What free float handguard do you want? Do you want rails all the way around or do you want the ability to place rails were you want them?

3: What suppressor will you be using?

I have an RRA ATH upper that is plenty accurate for me. I have also looked at the LaRue Stealth uppers. If building, I would go with a Rainier Arms Ultra match barrel.

Budget is crucial. If LaRue is an option, this is your answer. Then just sell your current lower to recoup costs.

Also, do you already have a scope?

1: $800 for the upper

2: All want to mount on the handguard will be a bipod

3: That remains to be seen. I know that I want to get one, but its going to be at least a year before I can afford it.

I have looked at the RRA uppers but I couldn't find any info about if I could have the barrels threaded correctly or not.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Wow! That is exactly the rifle that I am looking for. I guess I need to be patient and save some more.

No scope yet. I will be shooting at distance's of 500 yds or less. That is what I expect to be my limits.

Thanks for the info!

LaRue also offers the PredetAR. I am sure it would be spot on as well.

After looking at the LaRue website I am doubting my own criteria for this rifle. LOL Too many options to process thru.
I am leaning toward buying one of there preassembled uppers. But first I am going to research the LaRue options somemore.

Do you know if the threading on LaRue barrels are precise enough for suppressors or will I need to have it rethreaded when I am able to get a suppressor?

LaRue makes, in the opinion of many (myself included), the highest quality AR-pattern rifle available. You definitely won't have to worry about the threads. If you want to see a lot of LaRue stuff, look under the "Industry" tab and scroll down to LaRue Tactical.

The OBR 5.56 is the 5.56 rifle most geared towards precision shooting. The PredatAR is still exceedingly high quality, but geared towards lightweight run-and-gun style shooting. New, but not quite available yet, is the PredatOBR, a hybrid between the two rifles. It is essentially the OBR 5.56, with the PredatAR handguard (which is lighter and longer) and a 0 MOA rail built in (like the PredatAR) rather than the 20 MOA rail on the OBR.

The Stealth uppers are a one-stop drop-in solution, but when compared to the price of a PredatAR ($1500), I see no reason to buy just an upper ($1200).

Thanks again for all the info. Now to process all of it while I save up somemore.
