I just came from my local Bass Pro Shop and they had a new R700 ADL in 308 on sale for $450. The only bad thing is it had a blind magazine, but how does that price compare with others?
Wal-Mart has them on sale from time to time. All in all, for a NIB rifle, that's not bad. This time of the year, post-hunting season, keep an eye out on the EE and some of the other gun boards. They can be had for less from time to time, but then you have to look at shipping and fees.

Dick's Sporting Goods sells the ADL with a cheap scope for 500. I knew it was a cheap scope, but it got me shooting while I was shopping for the right glass. I was able to pick up a 308 with varmint profile barrel for that price. My local store was also selling 243 and 223 models for that price.
Academy currently lists the 700 on their website for 379.99. No scope included, which may not matter if you have an extra laying around. I can not tell from the website photo if it is a varmint barrel or the sporter barrel. The website shows 270 Win, 7mm Rem Mag, and 30-06 as available calibers.
