What stock for Rem 700 SPS .223?
Hey all I've had my SPS for a couple of years now and have glass bedded the original Hogue stock and it shoots great. Only thing is now I'm getting a little bored with the "factory" look and was wanting to "cool" it up a bit. I've got the same rifle chambered in .308 and put that in a B&C Medalist/Tactical, this one shoots very good as well (sub-minute when I do my part). I've found that stock to be a little bulky to be humping around in the field hunting with it so I'm not really interested in going that route again. Thing is I really like the "McMillan A5" style of stocks and that was why I went with the Medalist/Tactical on the .308.
So would anybody have any suggestions on an A5-style stock that isn't as bulky as the B&C? Of course pics of your guys' rigs is always appreciated.
I have a Bell and Carlson M40 on a SPS tactical, and a Bell and Carlson that came on my 700 XCR Compact. The one on the compact (I don't know which model stock it is) is considerably "leaner", not nearly as bulky as the M40. Don't know if that helps or not, but I was thinking the M40 stock might be a little extra work to pack around where as the other one is just right.
Manners Composite makes and excellent stock.
