Ok, I searched for this and could find an answer (or at least one that I understood), if your name of your trust is XX XXXX Revocable Living Trust, Somewhere, USA do you or can you engrave

(1) XX XXXX Trust, Somewhere, USA

or

(2) XX XXXX Revocable Living Trust, Somewhere, USA

Any and hopefull all advice would be helpful.

You have to engrave the entire trust name. That's why you make your trust name as short as possible.

Whole name of trust

There are no requirements that the complete trust name be on one line? Some of us weren't thinking ahead and I don't want to create a whole second trust for SBR's.

Reading the NFA Handbook and 27 CFR 479.102 there are just the depth and height requirements but I am believing it is OK to split the trust name up if required?

That's fine. Or if it's legal, you could amend the name of the trust to make it a bit shorter.

Yep. That is why I am glad I read so much of these threads on here when writing my trust. I don't have any SBR's yet, but I wanted to plan ahead while doing it for my suppressor, so I made mine XXX XXX Trust. I did not include revocable living in the trust name.

Yeah, putting name engraving on 2 lines is fine, it will just be 3 lines long by the time you put your city and state.

Height requirement is only for the serial number.

Crap. I think i just filled out my form 1 wrong then. Just did "xxxx xxxx trust" instead of the whole thing. I also didn't fill out line 4h with the engraving info. Hopefully someone is lazy at work or it at least gets kicked back quickly

You are not required to place your intended engraving on 4h.

There is no legal requirement that that information be listed anywhere on the Form 1. Period.

However, if you do decide to list it there, NFA Branch will spend the extra time to research and review it, and also will reject your Form 1 if you list something not acceptable.

So your choices are:

––Don't list it, and you'll be approved faster.

––Do list it, and it (a) will delay your approval, and (b) possibly cause it to be rejected.

Your choice.

If I may add onto this -
Is the word revocable required in the title of your trust?

My trust name for example is

XXXX XXXX's Firearms Trust

Is that acceptable?

Thanks for the clarification, Tony. I couldn't really find a straight answer.

I would get rid of the word Firearms. Shorter is better, especially because you may not have a lot of room available on the gun to engrave, plus many engravers charge by the letter.

My engraver charges a flat $50 -
You think that's a lot of characters, you should see my last name.

My Form 1 only says XXXX Trust, all my Form 4's say XXXX Trust but my actual trust name has the word Revocable living in it. I haven't had any issues getting anything approved. I'm just gonna engrave XXXX trust on my SBR. I'll take my chances.

My trust is my last name followed by "Trust", the word revocable is somewhere in the 30+ pages, but not in the title.
