 Is this Scenario Correct?

Hi guys,

I'm about to start the process of obtaining a S&W 76, and I wanted to check a few things before I got the paperwork in order.

I'm going to use my company to do the transfer since I'm a registered officer of such. This should eliminate the CLEO signoff etc.

Individually, I have a C&R FFL so I should be able to receive the firearm without using a local (Louisiana) class III dealer.

The questions...

Should I list my FFL # on the form 4 or does it matter since it is technically being transferred to my company? I'm thinking I should if I want it delivered to my door.

Please let me know if there are any holes in my logic.

Thanks in advance!

You will still have to use a dealer b/c your company doesn't have an FFL, you have one personally. The C&R holder has to be the transferee.

That's what I was afraid of. 10-4, still easier than doing to Cleo signoff shuffle.

Thanks!

also since you live in LA, there is a requirement from the LA state police to register all MG.

I'm not sure of the form or who to contact but I'll try to find it and link it.

Edit:

Found it also there is a thread just below this one about Travel to Louisiana with NFA

A link to the form to register a MG or NFA firearm in Louisiana with NFA

Excellent, I saw that thread, and briefly read it, but didn't see the part about registering with LSP. Thanks a lot, this will save me a lot of time later.

Yeah except it will take either a month longer (assuming it is on a Form 3 now) or six months longer (assuming it is on a Form 4).

That's pretty much what my dealer said today .

Oh well, I've got the thing purchased so I may as well get started!

One question though, where and when should I insert my name vs. my companies name on the paperwork?

I've seen plenty of examples of "trust" templates, but not many for corporations.

Thanks again, I'll be sure to pay it forward once I get the hang of this.
