Cutting chrome barrel, And long term

Sorry if this isn't in the proper place but here goes. I have a FS2000 I'm thinking of having ADCO cut down the barrel for. Doing some research shows very conflicting opinions on cutting down chrome lined barrels. Factory FS barrels are rarer then hens teeth, otherwise this would be a lot easier of a decision. It's no precision rifle, but I refuse to let accuracy go to hell and ruin a barrel I can't replace. So I'm asking for your first hand experience with having your chrome lined barrel cut. Who did the work? How was performance after vs. before? How many rounds down the pipe after? Any problems, or remorse? Answers to these questions are what I would find most helpful. And please, first hand expierance only. I could give a crap less about hearsay, or "this one time someone saw a guy this one time who cut his barrel". Thank you in advance.

Nefarious arms has been masterfully cutting SCAR barrels for a long while now with zero reported issues after thousands of rounds. ADCO recently started cutting SCAR barrels with zero issues I can find as well. The fs2000 practically has the same barrel, so there shouldn't be an issue with it either.

As always, proper tools and a high level of skill can achieve just about anything. I have had chrome lined ar15 barrels cut and haven't experienced a single issue thereafter.

Thanks Crusader. Who did you have do it for you, and how many rounds you put down it after? My FS is a shooter, she comes with me every time and gets a nice workout. Collect my empties, reload, and repeat the following weekend. So long term is a real concern to me.

I had my SOT get them cut by a local machinist. I would just go with ADCO or Marvin Pitts of Nefarous Arms. Both offer top notch work and have great reviews.

I shot a few thousand rounds through a barrel I had cut down to 11" and the accuracy was awesome out to 200 (max distance at local range) and back in 2005 I had a barrel cut from 16" to 14.7" pinned and it was used as a range gun/ training gun and had thousands through it without problems.

Edit to add: when I tried to have an FN barrel cut I was told on more than one occasion that the thickness of FNH chrome lining made it impossible to cut without damage, but Nefarous arms and ADCO proved otherwise

I had no idea FNH used a different treatment then other manufacturers. Is it thicker or thinner then the norm? Thanks for the responses guys. Marvin Pitt is a name I keep seeing, so would love to hear about your experience with him and ADCO. I have no first hand experience on this topic and knowlage is power, so keep em coming!

I can't address your chrome issue specifically, but in general I have used ADCO for about a dozen various purchases and projects including cutting, threading and pinning and the work was aways superlative. Customer service is excellent as well.

Thanks for the feedback and the link. Looks like good work to me, and that lathe is pretty sick! Any preferences out of these two shops, or they about equal? I don't mind paying a little more or waiting a little longer if the job is done right and the work is done by someone skilled. I've heard nothing but good things about both.
