Design my SBR (play with someone else's money!)

So I'm taking the NFA plunge here shortly and entering the SBR world. I've never had an SBR of any type, and the only AR series rifles I've had were the following:

Colt M16A2 20"
FN M16A2 20"
Noveske 16" SS w/VIS
Bushmaster DPS 16"

I've been wanting to do an SBR for years and now that 300 AAC Blackout has taken off like it has with good results; 30-30 like supersonic ballistics under 200y, .45acp kinetic energy delivery subsonic; and the state of Texas getting it's head out of it's ass and allowing suppressors for hunting...I have just got to get a 300 AAC Blackout SBR! Most of the deer/hog hunting I do is under 200y due to terrain, so the ballistics are fine for hunting (better than 5.56 not good as .270 or 7.62). It may not be perfect...but it's fine.

I will be using the rifle both subsonic and supersonic, but will almost exclusively shoot with a suppressor. I'm concerned about reliability and proper cycling of the action among the various rounds that will be used. I have no experience with anything like this, and all I have are ideas of what may work based on what I have had in the past.

I'm looking at the Noveske 10" 300 AAC Stainless Steel barrel right now. The 10" barrel is what AAC is using for ballistics testing, so I am fairly confident of the performance of the ammunition downrange. But what about reliability of the rife with this? Is 7.5" better? Or 12"?

If you were building a 300 AAC SBR for yourself with no budget restraints that would be used exclusively with a suppressor, what all components would you use?

Have you found the barrel in stock anywhere? I'm liking the 10 but it will be just as long as 16 carbine with a suppressor. I can't talk for reliablity I'm still looking for a barrel

I got word from Sheri that the latest batch of barrels just arrived.

Wasnt the 300 black originally designed for an 8" barrel?

I got a 10.5" 5.56mm sbr with 5.56mm Phantom suppressor. I love it but if I could do it over id go with the .30 cal can so I can change to 300 black without having to pay for another stamp

Go with the Noveske 8". It is pure sex.

Plus with a 6-8" suppressor hanging off the end it will be less than or equal to the length of a 16" carbine.

In my opinion, the 8" barrel is the best option if you're okay with a 7" handguard. If you want a 9" handguard, go with the 10" barrel.

9" AAC barrel.

Or Noveske 8" barrel.

If I was shooting suppressed 100% of the time I would get a thread on suppressor and a Spikes/Seekins 12" BAR rail and tuck that suppressor inside of there. :-)

I love spending other peoples money with online advice

Personally i'd get a 12.5" 6.8 SPC II for hogs and dear out to 200y.

If it has to be a 300 BLK i'd get the Noveske 10" or then again the complete AAC 9" upper with the 8" rail is GTG.

I'm months into waiting for a stamp for an 300 BLK noveske 8" build and its great and will be short and compact with the Mini 7.62 supressor (also waiting on stamps.) But that seems more like a PDW than anything I'd want to try taking down hogs with.

I also think AAC is using their 9" upper for ballistics testing.

I'm building one with a 8" Noveske barrel if it ever comes in. I have a SDN6 for it now, but may try one of my SR7s for it when I get a shipment in.

Here it is minus the barrel:

I also installed a Geissele SD3G trigger and picked up a Aimpoint T1 in a Larue mount for it. I have several thousand rounds of ammo, and components to reload these down the line, just no barrel to play with

No 6.8 or 6.5. Though both have better ballistics they're not what I am looking for. Completely different round and fulfills only better ballistics. I am sticking with 300 AAC.
