OK, nothing especially earth shaking about my first day at the range, but thought I would relay. Just irons at 50 yds (all the indoor range had) so accuracy was hard to evaluate (I am OK with irons, but age is telling on my vision). I put 6 kinds of ammo through it with not a hiccup. The trigger on my gun is absolutely wonderful. I don't have a trigger guage, but I have to think it is 3-4 lb. Quite a surprise for me as I own multiple Ruger firearms, and this is by far the best. Very clean, and crisp. Everything pretty much shot to point of aim. The ammunition I ran through it were;
Barnaul 150 gr fmj.....no problems, but it didn't like this ammo. My first 5 shot group at 50 yds was 4 inches
Thought Uh oh....this doesn't look good.
Federal Power Shok 150gr SP.....It really liked this ammunition. a 5 shot group of about an inch. I was exceptionally happy with this for my eyes.
Remington Core Lokt 150gr SP......This one was about 2" dia
Win 150gr Power Point........also about 2"
Federal Fusion 165gr..........another 2" group, very well centered
Hornaday Superformance 150 gr SST........this one was about 1 1/2" and again, very well centered.
After changing out targets, I shot another 3 shot group with each and obtained very similar results. I really want to get this rifle out to a longer range with a scope, and I have no doubt it will do the same group size at 100 with the glass. Quit there as my shoulder had had enough by the time I burned 50 rounds. However thanks to the trigger, I was not flinching.........yet.......
Overall impression, I am very pleased with the rifle. My eyes are definitely the limiting factor. I will probably hunt with the Superformance until I get some time at the reloading bench and can taylor make something for it.
I konw this is nothing major, but some might find interesting.
Glad you're enjoying it! I just got one last week myself, although I've only put 20the rounds thru mine.
