M1A .308 vs 7.62.. Is there a difference?
Pardon my ignorance but I'm an M2 ball or 5.56 guy and my brother was asking. He's looking to get a SOCOM II and wanted my input.
Are the two rounds interchangeable or is it like the .223 vs 5.56 where only one barrel can shoot both?
Short answer is yes. Don't put anything over 175grs in it. Stick with vanilla or match ammo.
The M1A/M14 has the White Gas Cut Off system. It cuts off pressure to the gas system when sufficent pressure is reached to operate the system.
You can shoot and 308, 7.62x51 ammo in it.
Unlike the M1 system where pressures and bulllet weight cause problems.
