Looking for an M1 Carbine and CMP is out
Where else is a reputable place to look?
I just want a regular M1 Carbine from WW II or Korea, not looking for anything special.
Not sure if the above sentence is an oxymoron or not.
I couldn't find a 'buying your 1st m1 carbine' thread here, is there one available?
Gun shows around here always seem to have an ample supply. A USGI carbine tends to start around $700. Even the pot-metal Universals are going for $500.
And then there is always gunbroker.

would take a look at the cmp forums.

If you were in VA, I have an 'extra' one of that vintage. Bummer.
The CMP "for sale" threads or Gunbroker.

+1...yeah, they're expensive - but, you get what you pay for. I purchased a fully rebuilt, brand new Fulton Armory M1 Carbine built on a 6.5 million Winchester receiver and it's absolutely perfect in every way. After inspecting a few gun show M1 carbines (probably resold CMP's) I opted to spend the extra $$ and have a brand new/rebuilt carbine. I'll take some pics and post them later this week...plus, Clint knows how to properly build, fit, & finish M1 Garands, M14's, and M1 Carbines to exact specs.
my $0.02
