I saw a FN-FAL imported by Steyr - Secaucus, NJ . It's marked .308 Match.

It seemed very well made to me. I think it's the only FN made FAL that I've handled.

Nice rifles? Anyone know when they were imported?

Thanks

If it's what I'm thinking of it's very collectable and pre 90's... .308 match is more of a selling feature to lure the druged americans into buying it and more than likely you could buy a house with all the money you'ld spend trying to get it into match shape

It sounds like it is an original Belgian FN FAL (LAR), probably on a type III upper receiver. These were imported in significant quantities by Steyr and other companies in the 1970'sa nd 1980's. It is collectable because it is an original Belgian FN FAL. However, I would not call it rare, they are quite common, but I would be very happy to own one, and do. Depending on what model it is, its condition, and whether it is all original will help determine a value. These rifles generally sell in the $2,500 to $3,500 range taking into account the variables just listed.

If it happens to be on a type II upper receiver or is sear cut it may be worth a bit more.

Do you know what model it is? Can you post pics?

Type I no sear cut. It looks unfired and all original.

Very nice. An original Belgian FN FAL 50.00.

It definitely has a type III upper receiver, not a type I. That is normal for the Steyr import FN FAL's.

It does have the Browning long flash hider. That type tends to banana peel with some use. Its not a big deal but I would get a few extras.

It appears to be all original upon my quick inspection and in excellent condition. I would get it if the price is right.

Thanks for the help.

I'm not in a position to buy it - too rich for me. It won't keep me from admiring it though.
