Can't decide which optic for my 16" DSA "Tactical Carbine"

As of now I have a Leupold VXR 1.25-4 on it and it shoots great but for some reason I'm thinking about ditching it and buying an EoTech.

I bought this primarily for a hog gun but am not sure if the variable zoom of the VXR is worth it when most shots are going to be within 100yds which is where I think the EoTech would come in handy.

Thoughts?

I think an Eotech would be cool. I just went with a SUIT on mine.

I think an Aimpoint H1 would be great for that rifle...

I went through all kinds of optics on my PTR until I settled on the Bushnell H-1 knockoff. It works well for that rifle.

As stated above, Eotech or Aimpoint would be the top pick. You do have a good scope. Why not use it at 1X?

I do and it works great, it has a very small lighted dot in the middle of the crosshairs but it just seems awkward to use since it's so small.

When I can get my hands on a 16" I plan to put a Trijicon TR24 1-4 power big bright aiming point, no batteries.

I use an Aimpoint M2 on my Para.
The M2 has a 4 MOA dot. I think
an Aimpoint with 2 MOA dot would
be a little better.
I've been very happy with it however.

Eotech is a good choice too, we have one
on my Son's midlength AR.

I've used the EOTech and Aimpoint on FALs - Aimpoint.

Why not a D760?

I use Eotech on many of my guns including my FN FAL. And haven't had a problem yet.

I've only had 1 aimpoint in my life but I've had several EoTechs, I'm leaning towards buying another one for it and throwing this scope on my wifes AR

Would one of the Primary Arms mini dots work in co witness? Been looking at picking one up for my SA58 16".

One thing about the Aimpoint, it will stand up to the recoil
of the FAL.

Not sure if the Eotech would fare as well long term.

Aimpoint M2works well for me, but I have to admit that I have thought about a T1 too.

Aimpoint vs. EOTech = Ford vs. Chevy
I have both on different systems and enjoy trigger time on all. As for variability, go both:

I'd would just use the irons. If you need the optics, use a Docter or Burris to co-witness the irons.

Here's my set up, a DS Arms FAL with 18 inch bbl, EOTech XPS, and 3X mag.

Can't recommend it enough. Close encounters with the mag off to the side, then flip it in place and nail stuff long range.

Do you have any problem with ejecting brass hitting the folded over magnifier?

Nope. It doesn't quite work. It does make for a very handy setup however.

No. The brass hits against the edge of the DS Arms scope mount, which acts like the brass deflector on an AR, and sends it off at more of a right angle to the bore axis.

I am about to mount a Meopta Meostar R1 1-4x on low rings to my SA-58 Carbine... I'll post pics when it is set up...

I chose the Meopta as it was the closest thing to a S&B as far as illumination brightness... The Trijicon Accupoints are also a great option, but more $$$...

Yes, it's what I did on my STG.
ETA: make sure you get the one with the built in base as it sits lower than the detachable version.

I put an Aimpoint Micro H-1 with the Aimpoint QD adapter (converts standard mount to QD) on my STG58 carbine. So far works really well, especially with the straight-line Steyr stock. Iron's don't cowitness, but that's no big deal as I can pop the H-1 off in about a second.

EOTech or maybe a Trijicon reflex? I've always thought EOTechs looked cool on the tactical carbine FALs.
