-1 for welching- vincentvega6
recently had a trade go south, and im left with a bitter aftertaste. sent an offer early thursday am, of the trade of my eotech xps sight for a safir .410 upper. we agreed on him making up the value of my item vs sale price of his, agreed I would be delivering first since I have little feedback on here and he said he'd send the money on friday. I waited paitently for his paypal transaction that arrived friday mid day and told him I was working the rest of the week and id have the sight in the mail by the end of the weekend or sunday. I also sent him a link to my local gun forum where I have lots of feedback, all positive, to try to ease the tension of the deal. he sends me a message on saturday asking if I had mailed the sight yet. I replied and told him that I stated it would be out sunday, and if he wanted to back out that would be fine as I dont mind keeping my stuff. I had previously told him that I would ship on sunday, he said that he re-read the message and that I was right and he still wanted to trade. told him I took the sight to work with my sunday night and that I would be shipping the item out when I got off work in the morning. went to the post office to discover the local hub doesn't have flat rate boxes in the size I need and I told him that and called the trade off since this was turning out to be more than it was worth to me and I wouldn't be able to get the sight out to him as fast as he would have liked. I sent back his money the same day (today), plus an extra $5 to cover any fees and a little extra change for the inconvenience, and apologized profusely. I no longer felt comfortable dealing with him, and that is the reason I backed out of the trade. I tried to relieve the situation and leave it at that, then he goes on to label me and leave negative feedback. I got a little heated, and left a negative too with a snide remark of waah at the end of it. reflecting upon that, I was wrong to have typed that and I wish I didn't. I think this action before the feedback left was worthy of a negative, hours after we were done sending messages. what does everyone else think of this deal? I admitted my wrongdoings in this deal, but i still don't think it needed to resort to a negative mark on my feedback score.
drop it?

You backed out of the deal. You did this due to not wanting to ship at a a slightly higher rate. I can understand him leaving negative feedback (personally I would not have), but that is his call. I do not understand however what you based your negative feedback on. Other than smearing him because he smeared you. In all honesty, what did he do to warrant the negative feedback you left him? You welched, it sucks, but you appear to have been in the wrong on this.
$5 is what your integrity is worth? In the EE we deal off of our word. If you can't be trusted to keep your word, how can we trust you with anything else.
In my opinion you deserve the -1. You may even get locked out of the EE over this as what you did is considered "welching". This is the price you pay if you do not live up the the rules and expectations of the EE on www.AR15.com.
I don't get where I come off as backing out because I didn't want to ship at a higher rate? I was going to ship it delivery confirmation flat rate, there are a million ways to ship cheaper than that. I would have had to wait till the weekend to ship it out to him and I backed out because he was nagging me about the deal already. I wasn't going to move fast enough to his liking and I wanted to prevent a pissing match like this. I don't want to be hounded to deliver when we already agreed on a date of when it would leave. I told him when I was going to send the item, he supposedly understood that, then not even 24 hours later he asks if its been sent yet. he was returned his money, I profusely apologized, and said id rather not leave any negatives. he replied back and said he wouldn't leave a positive, and I agreed that he shouldn't and to not leave any feedback at all and go our separate ways. hours later I come home to a negative feedback score and two messages of him slandering me and bragging about his feedback score. my feedback was based on that. sure I backed out, I couldn't get things going at his speed and I didn't want things to turn ugly and I didn't want either of us to feel like we were shorted in some way. didn't quite turn out that way.

You welched over $5.
If you agree to a deal and back out you are a "welcher". Welching is backing out.

You are not making things easier on yourself with that attitude.
vincentvega6 Trader Negative agreed to a trade, nagged constantly, & got pissy when I didn't want to deal with him anymore. waaah

the hub was out of boxes, wouldn't have been able to get to another office until the weekend. he was rushing me to deliver, and I couldn't get to it fast enough. he was returned his money, no one is out any product. I couldn't meet his expectation of speed, didn't want to complete the deal. don't see what the huge deal is, not like I took him for his gear. whatever, leave my negative. never plan on trading again.

I already apologized to him for that as well, I was wrong there. have them remove it, or allow me to edit it out.

You welched, plain and simple. The EE has a O tolerance policy on welching so I suggest you contact the other party and work this out as the end result will probably be you receiving a ban. Also send the other member a link to this thread.

other party has been linked to this thread, I only have the last three messages toward the end of this deal in my inbox though. we had reached the word limit and my inbox limit, I do not know if he has the rest of the convo. I have sent you a PM regarding other matters not pertaining to this deal.

I agree with the others. You have welched and it is on your shoulders to make things right.

ill relay what I sent in a message to you here then, I would like to finish my deals I currently have with other members here if it comes down to a banning. I have sold some things and I am still on the line to buy some things pending delivery of a mailed check and a FTF local meet. I don't want to leave those users in the dark in the event of my banning, I have sent them my email address and instructed them to finish with me there but I don't know if they will get to read it before I am gone.

Which excuse is the reason for backing out? The extra cost or your comfort level? Neither is a sufficient reason. You welched, plain and simple. Make it right or face the hammer, your choice.
I hope you realize the extra fiver you refunded to him would probably have covered any additional shipping expense and prevented you from being here.
BTW - If you would use a little more punctuation in your posts they would be much easier to read.
Sorry i siimply do not believe OP
5$ ?!?! For all this?
Smells of salmon here
I've thrown in five extra dollars on trades for no reason over than to be nice and I had it.
Guess my feedback reflects that
Yours will now reflect this
5 bucks?????
I think some people fail to see "ill take it" means you have my word that it is mine after those 3 words are spoken no matter what comes up its yours you agreed, honestly I think you need to calm down and rationally explain to the seller/ trader your concerns and work it out finish the transaction and get the -1 gone
Greetings all. I do feel that I did nothing wrong and do not deserve a retaliatory negative feedback. I deal here with confidence that everyone leaves truthful feedback so that we all protect each other and weed out the weak links.
I dont think Vincentvega understands that it is a privilege and not a right to be a member here.
I do believe that everyone should get a second chance, but not a clean slate.
I propose the following if it is possible:
Have Vincentvega change my feedback to positive and I will change his to neutral.
That way he he has the opportunity to raise his score with merit each time and not $5 for each shady deal.
Thank you,
Scott

that is more than fair, and I have agreed to do that. I cannot figure out how to undo the feedback, I didn't see a how to at the top of this forum section and I can't figure it out. if I am allowed to still deal here, I think I will stick with buying, don't think trades are for me.

In all honesty and candor there is no reason why you can't sell and trade as well as buy on this board. Just treat everyone you deal with like you wish to be treated and do exactly what you promise to. If the original terms of the trade were defined with you shipping by a particular date, do it. If a buyer decides he wants something extra (Such as early shipping) remind him of the original terms.
All of the long-term members here and especially the moderators are fair and would support you if you are in the right. Believe that.

You're going to run into the same issue on the buying side. If you agree to buy something and then later back out, you'll get the exact same reaction you did in this case.

This issue is not this simple, you cannot welch and simply make it go away because of a feedback agreement with the seller. I have ask staff to remove the sellers negative feedback, as for the welcher you will be suffering the consequences of your actions
