Amateur Radio/ Ohio Hams UPDATE
On tuesday nights, members of this site try to get together on HF, propagation permitting. There's a few other nets that I frequent where a large majority of the participants are from Ohio. That being said.......
Of the members who participate in the OHTF, who's a ham? I ask for this reason: I see "get together's" pop up all the time, and we get together for beer/wings etc. Is there any interest of running a local "Ohio Arfcom" net?
I'd run it. If the participants are local, we can use a local VHF/UHF repeater. We could also run a state wide net on HF. Hell, If I met a few new friends abroad, it would be worth it.
anyone?
Thanks

NE Ohio (Cleveland Area) Ham here
SW Ohio here.
NW Ohio here.
I'm planning on taking the class this spring. Stay tuned. ;)
Central Ohio (South of Cbus)
Only on 2m though :(
Any idea when you guys want to get together? Aside from the VHF only station, is everyone 10-80M capable? Lets say a week from today (1FEB12). We'll call the freq depending on what's open and band conditions right before 8pm per this link and hope to get something together right at 8 pm.

10-40M here. I've got a 80M dipole, but my lot isn't big enough to string it up. I can only use it when I'm out on a field day/portable setup.
I just hooked up a TS-50 I bought to replace an older TS530 that had been down since spring.
Haven't even put the dipole back up, but I have a random wire I can probably tune up 10-80m.
It will be closer to 9EST before I will be home on Feb 1, but will try to check in if I can.
Westside Cleveland suburb tech with shitty little vx-7

. Sorry I'm not more fun yet. Workin on it. CARS member too but not practicing.

No problem we can find something on 40M, and we can move it to 9EST. I'd like to get as many as I can.

Cleveland area amateur. I lost interest in the hobby and got rid of all my gear except for a couple 2 meter 440 rigs.
I'll look for something open on 40M, 5/10 minutes prior to 9pm. I'll post the freq here, and call CQ Ohio Arfcom for a bit.

BigOhio, I think I heard you check in last night before the noise went over the top for me.
I'll try to get on 40 tonight when I get home.

Yeah, it was actually pretty cool. There were quite a few stations checking in last night. 80m was doing well then when we qsy'd to 40, I bailed. I could not hear crap, and I was beat. Will do it again next week bands permitting.
