Is there any type of knife that I could get in trouble for carrying openly or concealed in Ohio?

Ohio, has a state has no knife laws except for automatics and bali-songs (no-go).

Knives generally fall under a concealed-weapon, and are not covered by having a CHL.

Local ordinance is what needs to concern you.

No balistic knives. I think that it it, unless a cop can articulate the knife you are carying is not a tool and is a weapon.

Automatics are legal in Ohio, I've been threw the ORC and there are no laws mentioning automatic knives.

I don't think that's true. Autos and balisongs are legal to own and carry on your own property. They are not legal to carry otherwise.

I carry a Gerber spring assist 3" nearly everywhere I go without any problems.

My reference just comes to doing an automated search of the ORC online and the only mention of a switchblade knife is this

2923.20
(A) No person shall:

(3) Manufacture, possess for sale, sell, or furnish to any person other than a law enforcement agency for authorized use in police work, any brass knuckles, cestus, billy, blackjack, sandbag, switchblade knife, springblade knife, gravity knife, or similar weapon;

Then there is only one other and that has to do with the Ohio department of youth services and that doesn't apply to us.

This. I haven't lived in a locale yet that didn't have laws about knives, particularly switchblades. Where I grew up, it was illegal to have a butterfly knife on you as well.

Most knife laws (all over the country) are a CATCH 22
If they want you, they got you. Local LEO, have a broad brush,
Saying that... My rule #1: "Always have a knife!"

I open carry a full size K-bar as long as i leave the house with pants on LOL Cant attach it to a spedo LMAO. And do this all across the country. I got some funny looks in Colorado. But out in Cali your at the bottom of the food chain, its wise to have some kind of protection.
