I've read the sticky above with the various ranges in the area. My question is which offers a fast and easy membership? I live in West Chester to be precise so ideally fairfield or middle town would be convienent. Anyone have experience with multiple clubs in the area?

Member of the Middletown Sportsman Club 末 Easy membership application process when I joined years ago 末 about $100/year

7, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, and 200 yard Range
Trap
Skeet
Sporting Clays
Fishing Pond 末 Extra Fee, and not sure if it is worth it. I got it one year but really did not catch anything.

Also has a SASS setup 末 but I can not wear the outfit

The big thing for me:
–– open 6 days a week (Closed on Mondays)
–– Range Officer on the Range, I trust myself but have very little trust for anyone else until they prove it. I do not think people should trust me until I earn it also. This is a carry over from the state range at Spring Valley –– never really felt safe there and their RSO have some weird rules.
–– Open late, so I can go after work if need be, Spring Valley closes at 5 but they start to kick people off at 4:30

I've been looking to as I live in Loveland almost mason. Middletown seems to be the best price as Miami you can't get an appointment for a membership until late fall and springvalley seems to far away.

Do they allow a tour or initial visit to non members?

Not that I'm aware of, but I'd be happy to show anyone interested around.

May take you up on that. I'd like to see any facility before joining, but am looking for something other than Spring Valley or VRA. SV is really close, but often I can only make it on weekends and sometimes the wait is loooong on the pistol range. That and the fact that many times lately I feel I need to spend more time with my eyes on other shooters than my target.

VRA is nice but too pricey for the amount of times I'd like to shoot there. In addition, I prefer to shoot outside weather permitting.

Thanks

Opens for gunfire at 10 –– facility is open before that but no gunfire till 10.

I heard Middletown was stretching their rifle range out to 300yards. Is this true or just rumors? I used to be a member but its kinda a far drive. I just go out to properties I have permission to hunt on to shoot anymore.

Not true as far as I know. It would be a major undertaking and cost but there might be a plan. There might be some movement of the firing lanes to allow more straight line of fire for the 100 & 200. It's getting way to busy down there these days. You have to pay a lot of attention to what others are doing.
I submitted a plan some time back to correct the drainage, build up the banks and increase the number of 100 yard shooting points. So far the drainage and the banks are done.
Miami is the best around these parts but I think the membership is closed until October.
