current NFA turnaround times for PA [Status as of 20120315, FORM 1 & 4 approved!] ~ 6 months...

does anyone have current approximate turnaround times for BATFE processing?

I am going for my CLEO singoff and fingerprints tomorrow, for a Form1 SBR, and a Form4 Supressor.
I will post my turnaround time, but wanted input from anyone who has had one processed recently?

just got my CLEO signoffs today on my Form4 and my Form1, and sent all my paperwork off via priority mail and in the postoffice before 11am today... now lets see how long it takes for the checks to clear (aparently, not long at all, for the checks to clear), and who will get the tax stamp first (looks like the Form4 is in the lead by a few days).
My Form1 will come to me, and my Form4 will go to my suppressor dealer.
Forms were sent to 2 seperate locations as well: Form1 went to West Virginia, and Form4 went to Georgia

Note:
The transfer of my suppressor from another Class3 dealer in PA to my Class3 dealer (literally the physical transfer was less than 5 miles, across town, but at least while it's at my dealer, is a benefit, that I can use the can there when I shoot at their onsite range. I just can't take the can home until the stamp comes in), was initiated on the 7/15/2011, and they got the can in shop by 8/11/2011, I was like WOW, that was quick, maybe this will roll quickly, yet at the shop they were telling me to expect it to take up to 6 months on average. I thought they were kidding... apparently not.

Called the BATFE for updates,
as of September 14, 2011 my Form1 SBR app went "pending"
as of September 19, 2011 my Form4 Supressor app went "pending"
she informed me that the current processing time is approx 5 months.


(looks like the Form1 has passed the Form4, and is currently in the lead... it's neck and neck.

called in to check the status and was informed that there was a problem with my Form4 application, they informed me that a letter was going out to the applicant with information on the problem

letter came today from the ATF with one of my fingerprint cards that wasn't fully completed, they highlighted all the fields that needed to be filled in, and sent a form letter with the problem listed and highlighted. DOOH!

2 friends just had theirs come back. One suppressor and one sbr. Both were almost 4 months to the day. They will cash your check in 2 days though.

I had a customer's approved form 4 show up in my mailbox Monday.

It was sent on March 15th.

Just over 5 months.

On a more positive note... the last several form3 transfers have been in my hands in about 30days.

I'll start a countdown tomorrow when I fax a check out for another SWR Trident 9.

Does it go by state? I always thought it was:

last name+phase of the moon

It was a four month wait for my suppressor because they lost my prints and citizenship forms.

Starting July of this year.

All forms submitted (from July onwards) from PA will have the same examiner.
It's expected to speed things up as the dedicated examiner will have better understanding of the states' restictions and processes.

So who is it?

Nicole Dudash is the examiner assigned to Pennsylvania, as of July.

I've had mine in since the beginning of June. Took them 6 weeks to cash my check. I've heard it is running 4-5 months.

I bet they will, they cash the checks quickly, but, it takes them forever to pony up when they owe you...

To help understand the reason for the delays... try doing a little Math.

I understand there are currently only 10 NFA examiners. They process not only our form 1's and form 4's, but also all the other related NFA forms. Form 2's, 3's, 5's, etc...

The last I read on the subject, the huge increase in NFA interest has been generating approx 120,000 forms to review annually.

THAT is alot of work for 10 people to handle.

i totally agree, and I figure like the machine gun ban in 1986, I want to get all my stuff registered now, so it will hopefully be grandfathered pending any more future bans. I just wanted to post something that would give people in PA a good current turnaround benchmark. These are my fist NFA registrations, and I am kind of stoked, and feel like a little kid, before Christmas (except, I don't know exactly when Christmas is coming...)

My first stamp took 4 months, April to July of this year. I'm planning my next few thinking I'm going to send 2 or 3 sets of paperwork in at the same time. Saving the $$ for that now.

Mailed my paperwork June 25, went pending August 4, hoping to be approved around mid October. My build is a 733 clone. This build is primarily for my daughter (figure sbr, with maybe a 22 kit, easier to shoot for her), since shes growing tired of her Cricket and wants to shoot daddys cool guns.

I just started my paperwork yesterday for a suppressor. The dealer that I'm going through related that lately it has been a pretty consistent 3 1/2 to 4 months. I guess it's better than 6!

I submitted my paperwork on June 2nd. I am still waiting. They cashed my check 45 days after it was submitted.

I have one Form 4 that's been pending since late July, and I Just mailed in another last friday.

The last Form 4 I had approved took 99 days mailbox to mailbox, but that was the beginning of the year, before the examiner swap.

Well, I just mailed my paperwork in today. Lets see how long this will take!

Well, they may not be speeding anything else up, but they're getting even more efficient at taking my money.

I mailed a form 4 on Sep 30 (Fri), it was delivered Oct. 3 (Mon), and I just saw this morning that the check cleared on the 5th.

TWO freaking days after they recieved it! I guess I'll start my 4-5 month wait now...

seems like everyone is trying to get there class3's in... I am on the fence if I want to get my Draco pistol registered as an SBR, it's a little difficult to handle as a pistol, and it does already have the underfolder trunion in it... just need to fill out the Form1, CLEO sig, and check... as I already have extra fbi cards from my last time. (that saves me $25)

they don't even deposit the checks anymore... my 2 tax checks showed up as "Corporate ACH #### Atf Nfa Payment" ####'s were my check numbers, so I don't even get a copy of the cleared check... Congrats and welcome to the NFA waiting room!

Went pending July 12. Still pending as of last Tuesday

I sent in a form 4 and check back in July 0f 2011. The form 4 went pending near the end of Aug. The check has not been cashed yet.

If I don't see a cashed check by the end of Oct. I am going to call and bring this to the attention of the ATF. I don't want an approved form 4 being held for non payment.

I just noticed they cashed my check on 10/12. How do you find out what date you go pending?

Call them now. There is something wrong.

Its ACH transactions for the checks now... they should clear withing a couple days of recieving the paperwork.

After 50 days I'm still not even pending. My last form 1 was approved and back to me in 45 days total. This new examiner assignment is stupid.

Anyone ever take there SBR receiver to "Things Remembered" at the mall to get there engravings done? Will they do it for you?

I want it done in front of me, while I wait. I know some trophy places will do it for you.

According to the ATF it takes about 5 months from the date it goes pending to aproved. If you go to NFA Tracker it says Nicole Dudash's average from pending to approved is 77 days. I think that time includes applications from before the realignment.

Yeah, this realignment really sucks, the last couple stamps I got before they switched examiners were under 4 months, I've been pending since July 20 on a UMP can that may take til December

I really hope things smooth out a bit and this isnt the new normal.

Seriously, this is bullshit. Other transfers fro me have been closer to 3 months... they move examiners around and this is what happens? What the fuck?

Knowing theres nothing I can do doesnt help me feel any better.

I'm STILL pending since July 20.

And 3 weeks later it still hasn't shown up. W. VA is a long way from PA I guess. My dealer thinks its lost but you have to wait 30 days before you can request a copy. ATF sucks.
