Is it Legal to Transport AR15 Styled Rifles...
Question:
Is it legal to transport AR15 Styled Rifles, with 20-30 round magazines and ammunition (in a separate container), from another state to Peensylvania on the way to hunt on private land? I just want to be sure-
Thank you,
unloadded it is legal. PA has no ban on ar type rifles or magazines.
AR type rifle are not legal to hunt with in the state of PA.
If your traveling to another state, PA laws do not apply as long as your traveling thru the state.
This will be a private land preserve hunt, and we were told AR's are fine?
Laws apply regardless of where you hunt. I am not a game officer but the law is not negated because the critter is on private land. But I could be wrong, this is the internet, so instead of going to jail or getting fined for something "confirmed" through the internet, give the game commission a call. Here's their numbers, just pick the region you'll be in:
PA GAME COMM
From what I've heard, if it's a private, fenced preserve hunt, seasons and florescent orange rules do not apply.
I would imagine that firearm restrictions would also be lifted.
If it is just private land with no fences, then all PA game laws would have to be followed.

This is just what I've heard. You would be well advised to double check.
I believe it depends what you are hunting. There is a preserve in the Poconos that raises and has hunts for boars. Since they are not a "game animal" in PA there are no regs in the book you can shoot them with whatever you want.
It is fenced, and a PA hunting permit is not required. I am waiting to re-confirm it is ok with semis (they were made aware of this long before, and said no problem-but before I knew it might be a PA problem).
Private preserve hunting where they raise and release the game the PA game laws do not apply. As long as the farm owner does not care semi's are okay.
Opps double tap somehow.
They don't-though they request only 5 rounds in whatever mag you have with you. Thanks PA

Yeah you're good to go with an AR on a preserve hunt. Shoot one for us.
