Pistol/Rifle ranges in the Stevens Point area
Needs some Intel in what's available. Looking for a place I can go with mt FIL to do a little shooting when I come to visit them.Pistol mostly, perhaps a little rifle action..
They live In the Stevens Point/Plover area.
Thanks
My dad and I always go to the Wood County Public Range.
There's the Portage County range on the north side.

There's also a range near Wautoma, but it's currently closed IIRC.
I live between Point and Waupaca, and just shoot in my backyard.

Dewey sucks.
We either go to the one in Rapids, but now that
Corbin is open up by Wausau, a few bucks to not feel like you're getting shot at is good. Nice facility and well worth the drive.

650 yards? Not bad, but i'm guessing they'd poo poo the .50 BMG. They already list MGs as a no-go.

Wood County Rifle & Pistol Club (Private Range) is 600 yards with target carriages for matches

Not sure. Public can only shoot to 300... (currently far enough for me though.)
Also, trench system, so no waiting to check targets!

Trench system is a plus. But with no full auto, no point for me. Seems the best option for me is to either talk to the neighbor and borrow his pasture, or head to Shiocton.
.50 cal should be good to go at Corbin. Reg 12 from their site. "Any center-fire cartridge larger than .50 caliber is prohibited." Only drawback is the 300 yard range has covered benches if I remember correctly. Nothing like amplifying that 50 cal muzzle blast. :)
